brake feel question
brake feel question
I flushed my brake fluid the other day and am curious how the pedal should feel. It seems a little spongy but that could just be in my head. Stopped at idle I can push (moderate pressure) most the way to the floor. But when driving, I don't have to push quite that far before the ABS kicks in.
Any thoughts? Im headed to Motorsport Ranch for a track day tomorrow and wondering if i should bleed again.

I think I just didn't bleed them enough. I bled them again and they definitely feel better, although still on the soft side for the first 3 inches of travel or so. Like I said, that might just be in my head, as I've never payed close attention to how hard I can press the pedal in this car.
thanks for the link Klubbheads. I had read that thread, but the feel doesn't change on the second push, so it seemed a little different.

Brake pedal pressure is measured in pounds [leg muscle] on the pedal equal an amount of PSI at caliper.
The normal force needed varies between 40 and 110 pounds on pedal [engine running] to create 925 PSI at front caliper.
Use a bathroom scale to measure your foot force.
Usually the only thing that varies forces is air in system or different pads.
See US Government test about how many are not trained to brake nor do they have enough leg froce ramping up fast enough...........go to gym and measure your right leg force.
