Did you cut bump stops when you lowered your G35????
I have a 04 6MT that I am putting Tein H-techs off a 350z on.
Should I cut the bump stops???? I think the instructions said to cut them... but do I really need too??? what are the pro's and con's to cutting or not cutting?

let the springs settle first. if they settle with an uneven drop from left to right, then cut one of the bump stops to level it out. this is what i had to do. others cut both bump stops to get the rear lower. either way, you should let the springs settle first.

That makes sense.. BUT on the front I hate to take it back apart after an alignment and have to get it re-aligned. Would the front even make a difference on ride height? Its just like a foam sleeve.... I think my last g we cut the front ones... but I cant even remember how much we cut off.

my 03 5AT had a foam sleeve kinda thing on the shaft of the strut. we cut it on my 03 and then I heard that we should not have.....
my 04 also has the same foam piece...
did you all cut yours or not????
I did not cut my fronts, only rears. BTW, i'm dropped on basics, but don't think that would make a difference.

cutting bump stops adds additional travel for the shocks upon impact and not necessarily will make a car lower. It will absorb impacts a little better due the the additional shock travel.
On the other hand, some shocks(especially oem) can not handle the additional travel which may bottom out the shocks which shortens the life of the shocks.

I cut my front ones in half and completely removed my rear ones ( just modified the stock sleeve to cover the shaft so that dirt would stay out without the bump stop ). I have coilovers so they have short shafts anyways and the removal of the rear bump stop made my ride quality soooooooooooooooooo much better it's not even funny. I have yet to clunck so I guess I'm good.
Using stock replacement shocks however I would not remove the rear bump stop, perhaps just cut it in half or something.
