need a source asap for a rear caliper bracket (carrier)
I'm a wrench up here in Toronto and right now I have my mom's '05 G35x sitting on the hoist.
The driver's rear caliper has its upper slide pin broken off (flush) inside the carrier thanks to a frozen piston. The heat must have been pretty damn high to simply weld the slider in its bore.
At any rate, all of my replacement calipers lack the mounting bracket, which I need just as much as I need the caliper itself. One of my suppliers sourced one, but it's a day or two away in Philly, PA.
Can I buy a complete semi-loaded caliper & bracket assy. anywhere? Does anybody have a bracket lying around. Junkyards around here don't stock them : /
Also, I'm sure you all know this, but the brakes on these cars are a supreme sack of crap. I mean they stop the car just fine, but I've had more issues with frozen calipers (and collapsed flex hoses) and insanely fast brake wear than I care to deal with. And that's not just on the family car, but all of the G35s that I've worked on. ...... it's too bad. Otherwise the cars would be decent for reliability.
