BC coils/ coilover question in general
hey guys, after coming down to LA from norcal for school, i cannot stand the roads any longer. i have to say the roads here in socal just suck! i think its about for me to upgrade from my zhtechs to coilovers since they bounce around too much way too much. i'm looking for something stiffer and won't scrape my car at every single dip.
i've been searching and doing my research but its hard to truly understand everything since everything is so scattered.
my question is, does "stiffer" means a higher spring rate? whats the difference between spring rate and dampening?
I'm very much leaning towards the BC coils and I hope they will be stiffer than my htech, and provide more stability over all the dips and bumps on the highway. Also, how are BC coils compared to tein basics in terms of ride and "stiffness"?
sorry for all the newbness but i really want to get this clear before deciding on something. thanks!

stiff means just that. the spring rates are higher than regular tein springs or stock springs and you can adjust the rebound on the shocks so that you get a stiffer or softer ride. You can also order custom spring rates for very little $$ more and you can also order these coilovers as true coilovers (but I wouldn't recommend this).
BC coilovers are great. I've had them on my car since february and love them to pieces. BC coilovers are way way way better than tein basics, and frankly tein coilovers for the G and Z blow big donkey ***** (even though many swear by them).

Look for a suspension with lots and lots of rebound and low bound to begin with. Stiffening the suspension is supposed to adjust only bound, so it feels stiffer (and usually sounds harsher when you hit a bump).

also know that with stiffer springs, you won't bounce around as much, but those bumps in the road will sure seem way more noticeable. for example, bouncier springs might be analogous to a luxury car while stiffer spring rates can be equated with a go-kart, in terms of ride quality.
if you're happy with your drop height, i say buy some tokico d-specs shocks/struts. that way you can stiffen/loosen up the ride to your liking, and you won't have to pay as much as you would for coilovers.
however, if you want a lower ride/ride height adjustability, then coilovers are a must.

I second that as well. Im loving every bit of my BC RACING =) .
^^I agree a million%. I have had mine for a little over a month and I know it is going to be the best mod I make to my car.
