1st Gen Sedans always had lower spring rates than the 350Z's and G35 Coupes (Sport).

Ofcourse its going to be a little less comfortable. But those [350Z] spring rates are rather mild to begin with.

I just installed 350z s tech's on my 03 coupe today and the ride is almost like stock to me. I thought it would be a little rough but it's not, if you had never rode in a g before you wouldn't know I had lowering springs.
Don't know why yours is bumpy.

he is running a sedan not a coupe. why not go with g springs if you want the lowered look and a less stiff ride?

Wait...so let me get this straight...

I have 05 Sport Premium Pkg Coupe with Sport Suspension (314/427)

Just picked up:

-350z Unrev Springs (314/342) for a mild drop of .5" (I'm ok with that...actually wouldn't mind it a little less bouncy in the back)

and

-Stillen Sways

Now bc of my already sport tuned suspension, I should be ok right? No issues? My suspension is tight and my car rides normal now. No creeks, no noises etc. I'm at 30K miles now and my car still drives new.

I just want a tighter handling coupe with a little more comfort. Bottom line: if I go ahead and install this setup next week, along with setting the sways on medium, will I be able to accomplish my goal?

Ok...I'm about to answer my own question...

I went ahead and had my unrevised 350z springs and stillen sways installed last night....

Verdict...

I like the old ride better. I hit a mild bump last night on the expressway and almost bounced out of my chair.

The front springs are ok. Its the rear ones. I don't like them at all...too bouncy. I'm going to switch them out soon.

You put unrevised 350z springs on your 05 coupe with the sport tuned suspension(came with OEM 19's)? You went to a softer spring in the rear

I thought it would help relieve the firmness of the ride but in reality it made it worse back there.

The front is ok...

I know sometimes I don't learn until I experiment. If I put the revised 427lb rear springs from the Z, on my G coupe which originally had the same rate, will the ride be the same as before even though its sitting .5 inch shorter?

If so, I'm going to grab a set of 350z rears and have them swapped out with the ones I have now

the softer springs in the rear combined with the sport shocks should be less bouncy than stock. The system should now be overdamped. Define what you mean by bouncy? Like when you hit the bump it kept bouncing up and down afterwards, or the single bump was too harsh? You may have just bottomed out the shocks. I would drive on them a bit longer before coming to any conclusion

Actually Red, yesterday, while driving home on the expressway from the shop, I hit a bump and bounced out of my seat hitting my head on the sunroof visor.

That's never happened before in the past 10 months or so I've owned my car. I'm thinking it definitely has to do with the softer rear spring rate. That plus it seems every little bump in the road's been enhanced about 15% or so.

The feeling is coming from the rear part of the car since the front end of the car rides exactly the same as before.

Interesting side note...I had the shop install Stillen Sways last night as well. My settings...front Soft rear Medium. I doubt the sways are making my car more bouncier in the rear though

^^ 350Z rear springs were revised to a higher spring rate in 2004.5 up to fix some bouncy ride issues. See post #20, and the sticky at the top of the sedan section.

The best advice after seeing this thread resurface from time to time, is to read the spring rate sticky thread!

It really helped me chose the right suspension setup to meet to my needs. Currently, I'm using dspec (dsp-9s) shocks, G coupe htech springs and Stillen sways (Hard/Medium) and the ride is awesome!

To answer your question though...Nissan revised the spring rates in 04.5 to make the car have a more balanced rear end.

I definitely felt the difference between both kinds bc I started out with the revised on my stock sport suspension.

When I went to the unrevised, the rear end was super bouncy and I almost flew out the seat when I hit a dip on the expressway.

I pulled the rear springs out the next day and picked up a set of revised z springs and returned the car back to its normal ride quality I had before I put the Z springs on.
