I am adding a new set of Tokico DSP-7 (d-spec) shocks to my sedan. I have Unrevised 350Z springs and Hotchkis bars set at Med+ front and Hard back. I also have 245 40 19 Goodyear GT all season tires.

What would be a good setting to start with? Also, you guys that have the Hotchkis bars what where did you end up with the settings?

IMO, 4 settings up from full soft front and back will yield a little more overall stiffness vs the oem sport shocks. But with much better overall control. You can go stiffer or softer, depends on what kind of change your looking for vs oem. I drove a sedan with D-specs set to 4 on oem coupe springs (same spring rates as the revised Z springs you have), so that's where my recommendation is comming from.

I know your going to want to install them as soon as the UPS guy show's up. But if their's anyway you can do without them for awhile I'd love to run them on a shock dyno to see how they are overall and what effect the adjustments have. I can do it for free and ship them back to you on my dime. It's a long shot, figured I'd make the offer.

I would love to take u up on the offer, but I need to get them on (car is on jacks all apart) soon because I need to get my Tech Inspection for the Raging Bull done ASAP. It starts on the 17th.

BTW: Someone here said that NISSAN farms out the Sport shocks to Tokico, can you confirm this?

Tokico is an OEM shock manufactuer for many Japanese automakers including Nissan and Infiniti. Just look at the stampings on your stock shocks.

I looked but all they say is NISSAN

Yep, all oem G and Z shocks are manufactuered by Tokico. This also includes the shocks in the Nismo S-tune kits.

The OEM shocks on my 04 6mt coupe did in fact say Tokico on them when I removed them to put on my Dspecs.
