Exclamation nrg strut bar problem!

i tried test fitting the bar and i ran into a little problem

first the driver side bracket did not fit right, i had to fabricate the wholes where the strut bolts go, i made them a little longer by about 2-3 mm, then it fit fine

then when i was installing the bar, the driver side bracket did not line up with the bar, it wasn't because of the little fabricating tho, the bar seems a lot longer than where the bracket hole is suppose to meet with the bar hole, the bar reaches almost to the end of the bracket, either side i start with, the other side does not line up

did i receive the wrong model? my car is a 2006 g35 coupe 5AT

thank you

What if you were to put the STB on while the car was on a lift or on jackstands? Would that help at all?

^If you had just one side up, it'd twist the body a lil, so no it wouldn't help, should but it on while the car is on the ground in the normal stance!

ok, i got the strut bar on, boy was it hard, i have to hit the bar down to make it go all the way, but now the bar is hitting the hood, im not sure to what extent, i took out my hood liner, i did a little cut-out of my engine cover where the bar is touching and i also filed down the adjustable holes by about an extra 3mm but it still hits the hood, i can close the hood so i guess im close, i did a little test i used a fastener from the hood liner and cut it as close down as possible, so the fasteny would be about 2mm tall and used grey dust to mark it, placed it on the bar and close the hood completely, and it still made a mark on the hood, is there a limit to how far i can file down the adjustable holes?

is it possible that since it was such a tight fit to even put the bar on with the brackets, and the fact that i can barely move the bar to adjust up and down because it is so tight, is it possible that the bar is bending because of all the tension?

yes, the bar is bending. extend the bottom of the holes in the bracket (the ones where you attach the bar) to take out a bit of the tension. its annoying that you have to do this, but it happens to a lot of ppl.

i have made the bar lower by about 3mm
but its not only the bar hitting the hood, it seems like the bar is too long for the brackets or something

shanesG you mentioned that you had to extend the holes by 10mm, do you mean the holes that connet to the bar to adjust the height? or the 3 holes that mount onto the strut bolts?

I just had to extend the holes that get bolted to the chassis, I wouldn't extend the accual slots where the bar goes untill after cause it may not be hitting after that

^turns out i received the V1 brackets, but i just got the V2 sent to me a couple of days ago and ended up installing on v-tines day, there was still a little issue with it, but what i did was file down the adjusting holes about 1 cm, i filed down straight so it kinda looks like a filed them downwards and back so it would release some more tension, i ended up clearing the hood with about 1mm to spare, im thinking of taking it back off and doing some more filing, maybe about 5mm more so i can have some reassurance
