A couple of posts in the third and fourth pages of this topic talked about the performance of the G37 brakes... Edmunds tested the 2008 G37 sports coupe and found 60-0 distance to be 113 with no fade between tests. Their original test of the g35 coupe (with 225 width tires on 17 inch wheels) had stopping distance of 123 feet that grew with each successive test.

Motortrend also reveiwed the akebono brakes on a g37sport and reported "no fade."

So I think if you're looking for fade-resistant performance, than the Akebono kit is a great bargain. Also the g37sport coupe runs on 225/45r19 fronts and 245/40r19 rears. The oem 19 inch rays on the g35 coupe are 225/40r19 and 245/40r19. I would think that stopping distance would be similar whereas fade resistance would be much better for a g35 coupe equipped with the Akebono brakes.

^^^ I have no doubt stopping power would be great... its the pig heavy weight of those rotors affecting acceleration that concerns me.

Interestingly enough, I read a review from autoblog a few weeks ago as well, they tested a G37-S coupe against a Genesis Coupe Track and they felt the Hyundai brembos out performed the hefty G brakes in terms of fade resistance.

Best bang for the $$$, wilwood factory kit. Just over $3k gets you 2 piece rotors front and rear, calipers , one hell of a pad selection(unlimited) and braided lines.

What would a 37 kit cost with lines and 2 piece rotors??

I was answering this question:

I'm saying the Akebonos 14" front, 13" rear would be less than 3K with aftermarket 2 piece rotors...

Currently you can get the entire kit for around 1800 (there one vendor working on a package that will probably be 1600-1700) these prices includes the adaptor bracket... if you deduct $100 for the OEM rotor and add 1K for after market 2 piece, its about 2700-2800 for a warranted, quality, good performing, good looking BBK.

Cheaper than any other BBK - best bang for buck.

I'd agree. W/ 2 pc rotors, it should be a killer setup

These type of questions are always very subjective. There's a wide range of product that could fall into the OP's original question; Best Bang for the Buck.

Problems arise when the conversation turns from value to technical. From there usually turns into a piston count, rotor size, chest thumping free for all. lol

Even bang for the buck is hard to fully establish. What's your buck? If you have $5k to spend on the fronts then don't look at $1500 products....and if you only have $1500 to spend why are you so concerned about some of the products you can't afford anyhow? Luckily there are a number of value packed options to pick from as well as the more extreme offerings.
