DBA rotors

I purchased stoptech rotors for my car through a sponsor here and they are on backorder, something about an incorrect finish, ANYWAY, he offered me the DBA rotors at the same cost. They seem to be priced nearly the same as the ones i ordered and he can have them to me quicker. Anyone have experience with DBA? Should i settle or wait for the ones i want?

Kevin

IIRC they're made in Australia, but sorry, IDK much about the quality.

DBA rotors are awesome, no worries with those. They are top shelf parts

Supposed to be great rotors - they are pillar vaned and are what Stillen resells as their own rotors.

I've got all four slotted DBA 4000 series with Hawk Performance ceramics, steel lines with Motul fluid. I installed all parts myself with relative ease for 1st timer. Fluid bleed was easy. I'm very satisfied with this setup. These DBA's are huge and heavy.

Stopping power is greatly increased! The brake pedal feels very firm, yet smooth when stopping. It takes very little pressure on the pedal to stop. Initial bite is less than OEM but this is a plus in stop & go traffic. No Sqeaks, rattles or noise whatsoever. Best of all VERY LITTLE brake dust compared to OEM. I would take those DBA's in heartbeat. The only thing i didn't like is that almost 2 months to get all four in the mail because no one had them in stock. I dont have brembo's so the Hawks Performance ceramics don't sweep the entire rotor face, which will leave an unswepted area that will rust. Maybe some caliper paint can fix this. Anyone have suggestions?

SS lines, a good fluid, and good brake pads will do this without the expensive drilled and slotted rotors.

Drilled and/or slotted rotors offer better cooling to help prevent brake fade when everything gets hot. BBKs will give you better braking simply with it's increased contact area, but since these rotors are the same size, drilled and slotted actually takes some contact surface away for cooling. In fact, not all drilled and slotted rotors will be better than even the cheap Kragen's blanks for braking (it's been proven on the tracks with my old car). Take what you want from this post, but your rotors did not help improve anything yet.

And don't get me wrong, DBA rotors are nice... I also love how they look so crazy...

May I suggest slotted, not drilled? It offers sufficient cooling without the concern of cracking, although I'm sure that won't be the case with DBAs (I've had a set myself). But since they aren't drilled too, you'll get better braking on the streets. And to be quite honest, personally, I'm not too fond of Hawk pads... I love Project Mu though...

I agree dofu, slotted is the way to go for a daily driver. There's a pic of a cracked drilled rotor on the forum that scared the crap out me.

How do Project Mu pads stack up to the Hawk Performance ceramics? details?

are they all drilled? i was under the impression that i would be getting a comparable slotted rotor.

The DBA 400 series rotors are slotted. I just ordered mine. I will be putting Hawk ceramic pads on as well. I will let you know how they are when the install is done and broken in.
