Life expectancy of stock shocks

My car just turned 84K miles today. I was wondering what the life expectancy is of the stock shock absorbers. I feel my car bounces more than it did in the past and I am hoping to keep the car. Thoughts? I searched but could find no reference to this.

From what I have read shocks last from 30-60k and struts last up to 80k. I would say you are due.

Sounds about right. Tire Rack has KYB's for about $300 for 4. DO you guys have a preference? I want to stay low in price, keeping the stock ride but not sacrificing quality.

30-60k? Ha, I'm due! I've got a lot of suspension work ahead of me. Shocks / struts, sway bar end-links x4, compression rods x2, and a bad feeling about some bearings up front..

If you are planning on lowering, I would do both at the same time. Why pay someone twice.

I was never impressed by the reply from the vendor selling the tokico blues. I ran blues on my old maxima and they were worn out when I pulled them to run Konis. If you just want stock oem replacements, they might be okay.

I have a set of low miler coupe shocks for sale. I was going to run them before I got a set of Koni adjustables.

But since you are AWD, I don't think the fronts will work for ya.

Koni's are obviously better you are paying over double what you would pay for the tokico blues. You get what you pay for. But the blues are significantly better than the OEM sport and non sport shocks from infiniti which use Tokico as the OEM. People say they are exactly the same but they are NOT. Look at the housing and you'll notice they are wider than the OEM. Plus I've talked to the manufacturer and they said the Blues are valved for high dampening for better performance. I have them and they run well with my coupe springs. just FYI

So did you end up getting the kyb's from tirerack? how do you like them?
they are running a 10% off deal for the set now that makes it $275 shipped for all 4. and i was thinking about replacing mine because it seems to bounce more than i am used to in other cars.

I had 92K on my g35 and the oem stocks were still going strong with no signs of leaks. So much depends on the climate that you live in and the condition of the streets that you drive on.

I can't imagine the typical life of shocks is less than 100k. I have a 2000 328i driven decently hard its entire life and has 132k on original shocks. My '05 X has 98k and drives the same as my '08 X and I live in New Hampshire where the frost heaves can get nasty. I don't know where you guys are coming from but 30-60k seems way early.
