Brake Problems
Brake Problems
To start this off, i've searched for about 30 minutes now and didn't find anything that really tells me anything I don't already know. Anyways, my brakes started squeaking and i had my pad changed because the old ones were bad. The squeaking was gone for like a day and then it started squeaking more. I don't know what is causing the squeaking and its pissing me off. Another thing is that when i brake somewhat hard it goes thud.......thud..........thud...........thud. Dunno what that may be either. Anyone had any similar experiences? What you do to fix it? Thanks in advance.
Squeaks aren't unusual if you don't do the break in proceedure, but noises
like thuds aren't good! Take your car back to who ever installed the pads
for you, sounds like they left something out or installed them wrong, which
takes a lot of talent....

Agree, take it back to whoever did the work!
sorry i forgot to mention that the rotors were resurfaced. the pads used were wagner i believe. when i searched a lot of people mentioned regreasing shims and back of pads, but not sure if that would help.

*
Heat cracked or worn "un-true" rotors
*
Rough finish on resurfaced rotors
*
Loose fitting brake pads in the brake calipers
*
Lack of silicone compound on back of brake pad
*
Missing springs or anti-rattle clips that should be on the caliper or pad
*
Improper tightening sequence of lug nuts or caliper hardware
*
Contamination on the brake pad i.e. brake fluid

the rotors were only resurfaced once i believe. he didn't apply anti-squeal. wat is that? and the shims were put in the correct place. we were looking at the brake pads and it seemed like one of them was kinda loose. he was saying that he thought the rotors would probably have to be changed. i just dont wanna go and buy new rotors and then they still squeak, cuz he had said just changing the brake pads would fix it and that didn't do it. BYTHEBAY you said maybe anti rattle clips or something like that? does anyone have pictures of how it should look maybe? Thanks for everyone's input so far.
