Rear brake started clicking

Done lots of searching on here, but cant find any solution.

My rear driver side brake has started clicking when the brakes are applied. Any speed, doesnt seem to matter. Brakes are off, no noise at all.

I just took the brake calipers off, nothing seems out of the ordinary. Pads look fine, probably 40-50%. The pads and rotors dont appear to have been changed recently (I have had the car for about 10 months), but as I said dont look to be in bad shape. Could the piston be hitting vibrating against the pads? Maybe bleed the brake?

The car is a 2003, non brembo coupe. About 70K miles on it.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Any help greatly appreciated, dont want to take this to the stealer.

Cheers,

Jason

Here's the thing...I took the brake all apart, couldnt find anything, and put it back together - the clicking stopped.

Then today it has started clicking again. When I had it apart nothing looked out of the ordinary. Pads looked fine, worn, but lots of meat left, and all appeared normal. Perhaps I need to bleed them as I previously mentioned. Perhaps bleed the problem brake, and use some grease on the shims....I have no idea.

Edwin, if yours is vibrating, not clicking, I would have thought rotors for sure. Mine just makes a ticking noise, but brakes normal.

Maybe there is a brake guru that could chime in???

Anyone?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible the rear rotor is warped, instead of it pulsating it is just barely hitting the pad until I brake hard, and then there is enough pressure it doesnt click? I dont get it because I had it apart, reinstalled the pads etc, and it stopped for a couple days...

I had the same problem. It turns out my back rotors were warped. I got them resurfaced and the problem stoped.

Yes, same thing.

I actually replaced my rotors, cleaned everything up and things seem quite a bit better. The braking has actually improved more than I would have thought for replacing rear rotors. Anyways, ticking / clicking has ended - hopefully it is for good.

Hi Jason, I also have a clicking noise comming from the rear when brakes are applied. The dealer serviced the brakes and that fixed the problem for 2 days now it makes the clicking noise only after a bit of driving (5 -10 min). They are now recommending resurfacing the rotors. Just wondering was the clicking noise you experienced a continuese click (click click click...) when the brakes were applied?
