Removing rotors which are rusted on

Hey,

So i tried to do my brakes today, but trying to get the rear rotors off is such a pain...i cant seem to break them loose...

Anyone have any tips??

I've tried tapping the rotors all around and tried adjusting the parking brakes as well...

Give it a few good whacks with a hammer and it will come right off.

one thing that people always don't do that works best when you gotta jammed screw or some other metal parts that are sort of stuck on is to use a heatgun !

since heat expands and contracts metal it might give you enough to finally whack it off..

I remember when I was swapping out my exhaust, most of the screws were so rusted WD4 or any kind of Anti Seizure sprays DID NOT work.... the only thing that worked flawlessly was about 1 minute of the heatgun, then they unscrewed like new.

Why are you guys using a rubber mallet? Get a BFH and whack the **** out of it until it comes off. Hit it right at the center of the hub and it should come right off.

Spray some lube around the wheel studs and all around the rotor. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, then spend the next 15 hitting it with a rubber mallett. All kinds of dirt and crap is going to fall out of it. Hit it along the outer edge of the rotor and on the back on the dust shield. Seriously, it took a good 15 minutes per rotor for me to get mine off. You will think that it's not going to come off, but it will......eventually. If you are replacing your rotors then you can use a real hammer too.

Hope you get things going. Sucks to run into snags. I just let the dealer change out my pads and they did NOT turn the rotors. I was not happy. Can the rotors be turned still on or do they have to be removed?

Just use pb blaster or wd40 or something let it sit for a while. Then hammer it with some strength mine took a few attempts of spraying, sitting, hitting. It will come off.
