The brother-in-law

Not sure how things went wrong but my brother-in-law changed my
rear pads about 15 months ago and they are already finished, so I just bought
some new disks and pads and he came over to do the job but he could not
get one of the slider bolts out ( he said the head was rusted) and one pad was completely worn out as I guess the caliper did not slide properly, I called Infinti and they wanted 600$ each for a new caliper so we decided on just buying the sliders and we will see how it goes. In the past my rears pads always lasted forever, I spoke with my cousin who has a garage and he said he must have put the brakes on dry, and I said no he used some kind of grease on the sliders. My cousin asked if it was non-petroleum based and I figured probably not ... Just wondering where we went wrong..I don't want
to go throught this in a year for the rears that should last 75,000 kilometers
instead of 25,000..Sorry for this being so long..

Thanks guys

My rear pads just went after 33.5k miles. I saw a few other threads about rear brakes going early. One explanation was that the G doesn't nose dive when breaking by catching more heavily with rear brakes, which would explain why they wear out quicker than on other cars.

Sliders are rusted and not letting the caliper work properly. Buying new ones and replacing them is the smart move. Hopefully you can get them off w/o too much trouble. I'd use grease made for this. Probably high temp type.

My rear pads always seem to last 50,000 kilometers, my brother in law says
I should get new calipers too since they must be finished, has anybody
ever had to change calipers, I have had cars all my life with some good milage
on them and never changed a caliper, my G has 170,000 kilometers so over
100,000 miles, I can't seem to find anything where guys on this forum have
to change calipers.
