Installing new pads without grease?
Installing new pads without grease?
I just replaced my pads and rotors with ceramic pads and OEM rotors. I didn't use any grease anywhere. My only question is does anyone know if this is OK? I'm sure it's not recommended but will I be looking at any future problems because of it?
Thanks, Mark.
Thanks, Mark.
The only thing I put grease on is the pins that hold the calipers to the mount. I have never used grease on the pads at all. I don't know why you would. Now if you want to use the "anti squeal" compound on the backs, go right ahead. I didn't and I have never had a problem.
BTW, I have changed pads four times. Never because of wear, but for performance. Right now, I use Hawk HPS and I am very happy.

Like Texas says be sure to grease the pins, you don't want to stop
them from sliding. Let me know what you think of the ceramic, I tried them
a while ago and did not like them, no noise, no dust but no stop, they don't seem to bite. Funny thing is they are back on the car as I was doing a brake
service and the OEM's were finished....

Yeah, like you said no dust no noise and no stop. I can't feel a bit of difference from these new pads as far as "bite" goes from my old ones I replaced.. and there wasn't any pad on the old ones
