I got the Greddy Type S coilovers for my '03 coupe, and I instantly learned they are not for me. I wanted to tighten up my suspension, but this is ridiculous. I feel like I'm drivign around in a go-kart. I feel every little bump in the road and the car rides like total crap now. When riding on the highway, if I drive into a little dip, my a$$ goes flying up in the air, because they were too tight. I asked my shop to loosen it up a little bit, and they said they couldn't make it too soft or it would ride like a town car, bouncing. But they said the lossened it. Still, to me, the ride of my car was ruined. Rides like total crap. Now, I was thinking of the Tein CS coilovers, but I don't want to take a chance and get coilvers that I don't like again. The truth is, I really won't be adjusting the ride height. I just want it a little lower, to get rid of the wheel gap with my rims on. Should I just go with regular struts and eibach lowering springs? I want the nice comfortable ride back, and just enough drop to close the gap. What do you guys suggest? Should I go back to stock struts with lowering springs? My times of wanting to go to the track are gone, and I just want comfort now, but not a boat ride. I honestly miss my stock ride.

 

Ahh...the very same issue I've been debating over the last several months -- how to get a sporty ride for track days, a slight drop, and yet have enough comfort for daily driver for the family.
At the end I think it comes down to cost and whether you wanna do it right once or keep tweaking it. I've settled on getting Bilstein PSS9/10 or KW V2/V3. They seem to offer the ideal balance between adjustability, reliability, comfort, and performance...but they're on the pricier end of the spectrum.
I'm not a fan of getting springs and keeping oem struts...to me it's cutting corners. I've heard good things about BC Racing coilovers which are at the cheaper end.

 

if all you want is to be able to go lil lower / adjust dampening ..

look into g35 tokico D-specs .. possibly even 350z D-specs ..

Are you coilovers goign to give you a rough ride? I mean, the Greddy's are just ridiculousk, to me, at least. I'm embarassed when my friends get in teh car. It rides like total crap. Are teh tokico's more comfortable? Somebody else todl me if I want comfort, to stay away from all coilovers, is that true? What would be close to stock? Again, should I stay away from coilovers if I'm trying to avoide the rough ride?

 

I've told people in the past to avoid the Greedy coilover, a simple search on my350Z.com would have revealed they have issues related to ride quality.




NO, not automatically. Problem is you have manufactuer claims and owners that don't always know what they are talking about telling you they can be track ready and have a street comfortable ride too or "just like stock". The only way you can have your cake and eat it to is with a very good adjustment system inside the coilover (which is of so so,......very rare, cause that piece is expensive and it requires R&D) and your spring rates are not too high. Want to slice threw all the crud to get the comfort you want. Buy a dedicated comfort coilover system. I guarantee that Bilstein Pss9/10 coilovers, when run at the softer settings have a better ride quality and better control then any off the shelf spring and shock combo that exists, period. Other comfort ride coilovers are, HKS III (non sport) and the Tein CS.

Just to say it, I can think of one shock and spring setup that should give you what you want. Tokico 350Z D-specs and Tein 350Z H-tech springs. Good shocks and a good mild drop linear spring setup, should give you about a .8"/.6" drop.
