Slot drilled rotors with OEM calipers?

I have an 05 coupe with OEM brakes and rotors. I was thinkin about upgrading my rotors to the slot drilled ones, and i was wondering if i can keep my same calipers? If i do this will it be bad for the car/brake/rotors? And if i wanted to upgrade to bigger brakes can i keep the same rotors?

Cuz i noticed when driving on the highway at high speeds and then braking, the car would shake a little bit. I'm not quite sure what this is from, and it only happend when i was braking from like 90. But then again i was reading about a few people having there front rotors warped, and it seems like that can be a possibility too. This isnt the main reason why i want to get the rotors, but this would be a good excuse for me to get them asap. I also love the way the look so it be a plus.

Kill 2 birds with one stone. Advice anyone?

Yeah high speed shutter under braking is probably the rotors. And yes you can use oem calipers on whatever style rotor you want slotted cross drilled ect. The one thing i dont under what you asking is when you said "And if i wanted to upgrade to bigger brakes can i keep the same rotors?" Are you saying if you went to different calipers will you use the same rotors? If so that depends on which caliper you are getting but if you want a "bigger" brake than you cant use the same rotor.

Yea, i plan on getting the better rotors but i want to get them slightly larger than the oem. Wut i wuz trying to say is if i got them larger could i use them with bigger brakes in the future? Or will i have to scrap them and go with new everything.

Deff think its the rotors with the shuttering? I noticed if its anything under say 65 they're fine.

PM Rick@riversideinfiniti and get a set of stoptech slotted rotors. i just put them on my 05 sedan and they're great. Only a few bucks more than OEM too.

Stick to slotted only. Drilled won't do much but increase the chance of cracking and lower the total mass of the rotor.

Does brand particularly matter? I was looking at a few cheaper ones on ebay, but i dont want to cut corners wit price at the expense of quality ya know. I planned on going with both drilled and slotted. They make some that arent drilled too much. Do you think they still have a high chance of cracking?

Please do not cheap out on brakes. It's a matter of life and death if you cant stop.

Yea as long as you go with the oem sized rotors you'll be fine. If you wanna go bigger rotors then you have to upgrade the calipers and then your in BBK territory and its really expensive. Not to mention that its a lot more weight on each wheel which can adversely affect the handling characteristics. I bought cross drilled/slotted for mine and just put em on yesterday, I'm still breaking them in, but I didnt want just slotted cuz we tend to do some track/auto cross. But I agree that if you do just drilled it does tend to crack and warp more often, slotted does a great job of dissipating heat. Unfortunately I dont have many miles on mine yet so I cant say how much better they are.

Slowing down from higher speeds is great, and I can feel it pulling me forward some....but at slower speeds its almost poorer than the stock ones. But thats because my pads havent "seated" properly with the rotors just yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I went with Rotora Cross-drilled Slotted and Hawk HPS pads. CVR will give you a great deal on pads if you use the dirtybird discount. Mine were 100 bucks for the same products that someone as reputable as stillen would sell for 150ish. Same product just diff pricing cuz of the coupon. I got my rotors at directtuning.com, again similar products but free shipping vs 80 bucks for shipping. They also do cryo rotors and such. But I know there are a ton of different brands out there.

I'll try and get some pics or more info later as my pads seat in more. Btw since some of you do know more than I do atm :P, is it normal for my brakes to be a bit slower to stop at high speeds if the new rotors and pads only have 40ish miles on them? Most of it has been hwy so they're still BRAND new. I wanted to upgrade the brake fluid as well to a racing fluid thats DOT 4, but the mechanic didnt do that....I was a little dissapointed.

Talk to Paul@USAutoTek, he hooked me up with my brake setup recently. Slotted & drilled rotors + Hawk pads.

ebay rotors WILL warp..not right away but its a matter of time i recommend stoptech..theyre a great brand well known and fairly priced..as for upgrading calipers, you could go with the new infiniti calipers very similar to a bbk they come stock on the new g37s..and as for upgrading rotors with the oem calipers just make sure not to get brembo calipers the mm is different.

If you want to avoid warping, going with drilled rotors isn't the way to do it.

The look cool but slotted is more functional. Funny tho cuz all the high end manufacturers like Porsche and Mercedes use Drilled....I dont get it, but its not the best.
