NRG strut bar problem *pic

I just tried to install my NRG sturt bar and i cant get the 2 holes to line up. Seems like the bar is too long. I searched and found out that this is a common problem with these strut bars. Are there any solutions or am i SOL? I tried everything to try to get the 2 holes to align but nothing worked.

Make sure the other side is loose; then wedge the handle of a wrench between the bracket and the bar to pry it inward so you can slip the bolt through.

I had the same problem.

Loosen up the three bolts that hold down the strut bar mount. Pull the mounts as far away as possible and tighten the bolts down again.

At this point I still had some fitment issue. I contacted Richie (IIRC He makes the NRG Strut Bars) He told me to tighten down one side and then stick a small wrench in between the bar and the mount. Using a lever like motion pull the bar up and stick the bolt in there.

Loosen up your bolts, I mean keep them all screwed on but loosen them so you can adjust the different pieces and the bar will eventually line up. Good luck man.

^ +1, it takes a little force but it will get the bar aligned enough to put the screw through the hole.

Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip!

I just elongated the 3 mounting holes on both side because pushing the bar in will just cause it to bend up more and in most cases making your hood pop up in a small spot.

I was actually thinking about doing that but didnt know what to use to elongate the holes. There is a small bulge in my hood but it is barely noticeable and i mean barely.

Not maybe not a good idea but it worked..... I bolted one side thenI stacked a few towels on my plenum underneath the bar then flexed it down until the other side lined up.
