Rotor Rust, Can I use White Ox? Pics inside
So I've got rotor rust which is pissing me off. I know it's normal, but I'm looking at my 08 Maxima parked right next to my G with no rust at all.
Also, I don't think my OEM rotors had this much rust on the hat (I think it's called?).
Now I want to know if something like White Ox will work?

nothing is going to permanently remove the rust, rust is exposed metal to the elements. you need to remove the wheels, light sand off the rust, primer and spray paint the rotors with high heat BBQ paint. thats a somewhat long term fix and will last most likely for the life of the rotors.

Hmm.. yeah, these aren't zinc-plated and it didn't even cross my mind till they were mounted.
I paid $180 for all four rotors and pads, shipped. In terms of rust, I got what I paid for...

$180 for PADS and ROTORS, SHIPPED....you should have expected rust. paint em for $8 bucks...

I was just expecting if they put the effort into drilling/slotting, they could've hit it with some zinc.
Guess I'll be painting this.
Also, I had these installed at a side-mechanic and they have a little squel. He's saying the pads are cheap, but they're ceramic, so I feel it's an improper install causing vibrations. Any input?

My stock rear rotors have an extreme amount of rust after I got the pads changed and rotors machined(oem pads). I figured it was caused by the insane amount of humidity the northeast got this summer.
Am I right to assume so? ONly fix is removal, sanding and painting? I didnt think you could paint the rotors regardless if its high heat or whatever.

Also, I tried the white-ox. Removed the rust... and came back 20 mins later. Good if you wanna paint it after that.

Just to update this, I took it back to my mechanic and he fixed the squealing.
The problem was that the shims melted off the pads and were vibrating.
I think the pads were at fault since the manufacturer did not properly glue/adhere the shims on.
That also explains why the squealing didn't start for a month. It must've taken about that long until the shims finally came loose.
Anyway, the shims have been removed and the pads have been backed with CRC disc brake quiet.
Loving my cheap brakes and rotors now.

Where did you get your rotors and pads from? Just curious as I will need to source brakes for other vehicles in my family's fleet. I take it those pads aren't very good at all...Spray paint works well on bare rotors! lol
