ABS Brake Self-Test
ABS Brake Self-Test
Saw in one of the posts for newbies to the G35driver.com that the ABS Brake system self-test could be the cause for a strange noise that happens you initialy begin to drive the car.
I drive a '06 G35 Sedan with an Automatic Transmission.
I am looking for clarification on this. I have noticed that when I begin to drive the car, after it has been parked for a while, that prior to shifting into second gear, I hear a noise that resembles a spring being released from tension. It appears to come from the front drivers side of the engine compartment. I drive a 2006 G35 sedan
Is this noise what they mean by the ABS brake system self-test or is this something else? If it's something else, has anyone encountered this same issue and if so, could you pass some knowledge along.
Thanks for any and all help!

That would be the one. Occurs right before the shift into 2nd. I have noticed mine has a different tone depending on the day. There are times where it is pronounced and other days were it is barely noticeable. It frightened me the first few times I heard it before I tracked it down.
