help with brake job

i tried to change my pads on my 04 brembos but i noticed that even if i changed the pads they wouldn't sit perfectly flush against my rotors. my rotors seem to have a lip on the edge which the new pads seem to be touching

take a look at the random pic i attached, not my rotors, to get a feel for what i mean

do i need to have my rotors machined? or will the new pads just grind down the lip over time (will this affect my braking performance)?

have the thickness of your rotor measured. I believe the thinnest it can be within spec is 28.4mm and starts at 30mm... chances are your rotors are too worned to be re-surfaced.

I had a similar problem, but mine didn't look that bad. When the lip shows like in that picture, it is a sign that you need to replace your rotors. Like nghiars said, I don't think that resurfacing them will do much.

For how many miles have you had the rotors on the car? I changed mine at 45k, and it should have been done sooner.

With 55k on the rotors I would change them. As far as the brakes eating the rotors, the opposite will probably happen. And if you decide to get the rotors resurfaced, you will most likely get some shaking when you brake.

55k is a lot on original Brembo rotors - I doubt you are above the minimum thickness. I would replace them. Check out Centric Premium rotors (Rockauto.com and Tire Rack carry them for about $70/rotor) - fantastic replacements for OEM blanks without the $400/pc price tag. I just put them on recently and they are very high quality and made to very fine tolerances. Stoptech uses them as the starting point for their slotted rotors.

i wanted to get my pads changed this weekend, so i went to my local nissan master mechanic and he said my brembo rotors are 0.001 or so under the minimum required thickness for the rotors, so he said get them changed if im going to put on new pads

he said the cheapest he could get me were rotors from Napa for $560 canadian

so i went to everything35.com and checked these out. i know they're not high performance or anything, but i just want something i can use for everyday calm driving (im not aggressive on the brakes)

so tell me what u think

http://www.g35parts.com/G35-350z-OEM...042079-g35.htm

i went to the sites G35fromPA suggested, but they were gonna charge me $200 for shipping on the rotors to toronto canada. everything35 is only gonna charge $45

^ I don't have the brembos, but I bought the 05+ rotors from them and so far so good. I push my car every once in a while and the rotors have held up just fine.

The brand that they sent me was Centric (don't know if it will be the same for you).

Those are the same rotors as I suggested (the Centric Premium). Check the part #12042079 - which should really be 120.42079. It's the same.

And those are high performing rotors - Stoptech uses them as their starting point for slotted/x-drilled. You don't need slots/x-drilled on the street.
