Swift 350Z Springs...can't decide

Need opinions on Swift springs;

350z Sport springs (lowers g35 coupe 1.3 F and 1.1 R 336/364)

or

350z Spec-R springs (lowers g35 coupe 1.7 F and 1.5 R 291/392 and 280/448)

I've got a 06 coupe with stock sport suspension and stock 19"s. (stock spring rates 314/427 lbs) Decided will do w/o coilovers (just a noob going throw learning pains). And want to run these on Tokico HP shocks.

If you had to decide from only these 2 choices, what would be the reason for your pick?

Ed

We honestly can't answer this question for you because we dont know how often you drive your car, what kind of roads you go over etc and how you drive your car.

With that out of the way and the fact that you're admitting you noobness, the Sport Springs will probably be your best bet between the two because at worst it will only require a rear camber/toe kit where as the Spec-R set will more than likely require a quality front camber kit in addition to the rear.

In my honest opinion though, I would look to something else like the Tein 350Z H-techs, RSR 350Z springs, or even the 350Z Hotchkis springs because they will keep you right around 1-inch or less and you could probablly get away with not needing a rear camber/toe kit which will run you about $150.

Good luck!

Thanks idrive for your suggestions on springs and the heads up on the camber kit if i decided to go about an inch lower on the Swift Sport springs. I'm kind of sold on Swifts advertising, and am willing to give them a try before anyother. But dang we need to spend some big doe to get our car's suspenion right. :P (well big doe for me).

I guess i'm try'n to figure out if a 1.7 drop is major compared to a 1.3 drop...yeah that does look silly; but I've never driven a lowered car and seeing somewhat slamed cars, it's not the look I want. Is 1.7 inches low on our g35 coupes?

Also with the Swift Sport springs; they are 364lbs in the rear while my stock would be 427lbs. What will going with a lower number mean for my car's handling?

BTW I got the Hotchkis F/R sway bar installed....I seem to push my car real hard around curves, these bars are fun, but may be a small bit expensive new.

1.7-in is low, you will scrape on most bumps dips and driveways and depending on your tire size you may be lower or higher than the 1.7" drop.

I can't tell you exactly what the lower spring rate in the rear will do, but overall the springs will change greatly change the way your car handles. Swift is pretty good at what they do, so I wouldnt worry too much about it. Besides they're not the first to do the reversed spring rates.

Congrats on the sway bars, they're definitely one of the nicest suspension parts to buy first hand. Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.

Got the strut combo of Swift's and Tokico HP's installed finally. Pics to come soon.
Keep in mind I'm pretty new to lowered cars, and really just wanted a slight mild 1inch all around drop, for a better look, and a notch up from the stock 06 sport suspension.

The front is supposed to be lowered 1.3 inches, and it looks lower than that from top of wheel well to the to tire. I had a thight 3 finger gap and now it's down to a 1 finger gap. Rear was also a 3 finger gap and it's now a 2 finger gap.

I love when changing lanes the car is just flat, no sway or tilt from the 74k original struts. Curvy fwy on ramps are just fun and i need to relax on the accelerator pedal. I find myself driving this car really dangerous because of the new suspension upgrades.

Car looks a a little low for me up front, driveways, dips, and bumps are always on my mind scraping my already scraped front bumper and underside. Yeah...that's a given for lowering your car.

Have not done an alignment yet, but since these springs are advertised as springs that dont settle, I'll get an alignment in a few weeks and see what needs to be corrected; hopefully just need a rear camber arm and toe kit.

Want to say thanks to VA 04 G35 for detailing his suspension install and to idrive_MD for help on my questions.

I'm loving them even more each day...I do wonder about the G35 swift springs and their lower spring rates...I mean, Swift has to know what they're doing...anyway...

Nikkaitsme, may I ask what shocks you run and if you're on the OEM 19's? I'm thinking about going back to the OEM revised sport shocks. Seems like my rear can catch some air on the fwy bumps.

Depends on what their interpretation of the G is though, In the Z it is no question its a pure performance minded car. In the G however, they might look upon it as a sporting car where a lower drop and strut-matched spring rates with some ride compliance might do the trick.

So in terms of the G you have two options to consider from Swift (just like Eibach and Tein and some others), G-specific but softer, or go with Z-option for more stiffness. It's all going to depend on the consumer.

I live in Atl. and the roads are pretty good and my G is my daily. After all this time do you still love your Swift Springs. I ordered some 20" for the G . I am going with Swift and I wanted a decent drop but maintain ride quality. I was going to go with the 1.0 & .06 drop but I didn't think it would be enough. I noticed you went with the 350 sport with a little more drop. How is the ride quality, in other words do women complain about it being too bouncy?

Why not get 350z Tein S-techs? 1.2f-1.1r drop on a G and still has the spring rates comparable to the stock sport suspension spring rates.

Please keep in mind that a 1.7 drop in the front is pretty low on our cars if your not used to driving a lowered car. A camber kit in the front and rear will be needed for sure. Also research the price of front camber kits and their adjustment range. A lot of kits won't be able to get camber back to factory specs. If tire wear is not an issue, then go as low as you want.

Trying not to dig up old threads but I talked with Tokico today and they are saying Tokico D-Specs cannot replace the G35 sport strut because it is a different strut design. This sounded crazy to me but it is actually on their site as well.

Is this really true for G's with stock sport suspension?

G35 Swift Springs

Drop is good for me. Would like the rear to be a bit lower but the Butler Tire told me to wait cause the springs should settle. If not I will do a mount mod. The front rubs sometime. Check out pix

Rear=20x10.5 275/30/20

Front=20x9.5 245/35/20 (rubs sometimes)
The ride is great until you hit an uneven bridge or break in the road
