After sway bars are installed

Is an alignment required? I searched and the only answered I found was that an alignment is only required after new wheels are installed. I wanted to get more answers as I don't think that is exactly true, but then again what do i know? Did any of you notice any adverse wear to the tires after a new aftermarket front and rear swaybars were installed? Would anyone suggest that I should get an alignment. My last one was about three months ago after I got new tires. I've hade the new sway bars (is it one word or two) in for about two months.
Also, just the other day I started to notice a knocking that sounds like it is coming from the front suspension. I haven't had a chance to get under the car yet but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced the same thing after they installed the sways. Both of mine (hotchkis) are setup on medium.
Thanks guys. Sorry I usually only post when I have questions.
