I just had Tokico Dspecs installed this past week along with htech springs. I can also vouch that the dspecs must have ripple control as well. I don't feel any high frequency vibration issues at all and Ive driven on Chicago city streets as well as the highway so far.

must be the springs - I had Dspecs too, but with Eibach Pro-Kit springs - they were too stiff for my liking, no matter what settings were the shocks.

 

Code, did you try another brand spring to see if you could get the desired effect? The Htechs ride pretty good as far as I'm concerned. To me they're probably like 10% softer than stock sport suspension with my 4 clicks from full stiff setting.

I may try to soften up the suspension and see what 5 or 6 clicks from full stiff feels like. Keep in mind I live in Chicago, it's winter time & the roads aren't so forgiving.

I'm trying to emulate that BMW firm but luxury ride quality

 

OP probably has worn bushings in his compression rods. It gives a lot more play in the suspension when those are worn down.


I'm switching my suspension from the revised 350Z setup to 350Z HP shocks and 350Z tein H-techs. I'll be sure to post my thoughts and feelings on the setup when I get them in....sometime between thur and sat this week.

 

no, didn't. tried it at full hard (waaaay too stiff), half between stiff and soft (still a bit bouncy), then at then at full soft (which made the car way too bouncy and floaty). at the same time, parking sucked, since the front bumper was often below sidewalk level, and i was afraid to damage the bumper. ended up selling shocks/springs, went back to stock and never looked back.

 

to whose post are you referring? i think my compression rod bushings may be slightly shot - i get the creaking coming up my driveway at an angle. it's worse on dry or cold weather, and almost not there on warm or wet weather (added lubrication? ).

please do post - need another opinion.

 

Dudefish, can you recall the part numbers of your HP Blues, and can you disclose the price you paid for them?

Hey TB! I have great news....I got my suspension issue fixed once and for all this afternoon and finally had the chance to enjoy my new setup.

I have a review to write and can say that the dspecs /htech combo has me smiling from ear to ear!

Much better than stock sports suspension. Keep in mind I came from Stock 05 Sports suspension, Stillen Sways set on Hard front, medium rear and 350z revised springs.

Needless to say my ride was firm borderline rough. Now I'm enjoying the new setup much better. It was a headache to get to this point (will discuss in my review) but worth it!

these are all 350Z part numbers, as you noted. so, i assume you have a Z or a G35 coupe, then? - your signature is not helpful in that regard... the part numbers I posted are for G35 sedan, presumably - haven't confirmed it 100% yet.

also, your total came out to just over $300 - not bad.

 

They're installed on a 2004 6MT sedan and seem to work fine.

I agree with the poster who said I probably have bad compression rod bushings. I really need to get those addressed.

 

ah ok, thanks you for clarifying. no surprise, then, that at least the rear shocks were shorter - so you lost some wheel travel, then.

Got my Tokico HP's installed (350Z size) along with 350Z Tein H-techs. They are a great pair. Better handling, slight lower drop than the 350Z revised suspension, and good dampening. It is a smoother ride than the 350Z suspension I was running before. There is no high frequency bounce.

I have noticed that because of the progressive valving of the HP's that sometimes I have to go a little slower on some speed bumps to avoid scraping but all in all I think I really like this setup. Its only been a few days, so I'll let e'rything adjust a little and let you know my overall ratings in a week or so.

 

Nice to hear another positive review about the blues and htechs. Good to know the htechs help eliminate the high frequency vibrations as well.
