Brake Pads
Brake Pads
I need to replace the brake pads on my fiances 2003 G35 Coupe. They are stock non brembo brakes. What type of brake pads do you guys recommend??? Is it alright to use some from a local auto parts store or should I get the factory one's?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I would say if your not performance oriented and are satisfied with the oem stopping power then just pick up some oem pads, but find a better deal than the dealership. You can pick up pads from your local parts store, many people have, just get some decent ones that come with the shims, and make sure you put a lot of anti-squeal on the back of them if you do it yourself..its not hard.
Being the original owner of an 04 Coupe with all the brake issues that come with the 03-04 G35s, I changed over to Akebono ProActs on my fronts and can not be happier. They are squeal free, almost no dust, super easy on the rotors, and last considerably longer than OEM. Stopping ability lacks the initial bite, but more than makes up for it with the benefits. That brake dust drove me crazy, and I couldn't get much more than 14,000 miles out of the pads with all city driving. By the way, the OEM rears are made by Akebono so I will be sticking with the factory pads when replacement time is near.
Sadly the OEM brake pads for our cars are terrible, no terrible isn't bad enough they're junk! Order a set of HAWK HP pads for your G/Fs '03, they'll last tripple the length of the OEM pads. Check our MARKETPLACE for one of our vendor/sponsors here on Driver. If you get them do a SEARCH on the break in process which will bed in the pads so you won't have any noise and almost zero dust.

Got Pads....?
Just go to our MARKETPLACE you'll find several vendors selling Hawk HP pads at a very good price. Don't forget to SEARCH for the bed in process or you could PM me.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Who'd you buy them from? The cheapest I found was $129 F/R for my sedan.

Keep looking. Is that including shipping? I havent paid more than 100 for both front and rear pads shipped, and I have brembos.
Bought my 04 Coupe used and the dealer had put Nissan pads at the corners.
It started squealing like a pig!!!
Put Akebono pro-act on the front and no more squealing!!!
Have been pleased so far.
