Shocks/Coilover question

There's this 03 g35 coupe that i might be purchasing this weekend. the owner told me that something might be wrong w/ the shocks and that it would cost $200 to buy and install stock shocks for it. Now my question is, if i chose to buy some aftermarket coilovers, would that resolve the shock problem?

Any advice is appreciated...

Dan

Yes, your aftermarket coilovers would replace the old shocks.

Of course, someone trying to sell you something, will tell you anything you want to hear so you buy it. What's your "mechanical" experience? If not high, you should have a professional (a second opinion) take a look at it before you purchase the car. If it's not just the shocks, and something more, your new coils may not solve the "$200" problem.

btw, how many miles on the car? Service records?

46k miles, been serviced every 2000-3000 miles. I'll be the third owner. it got side swiped on the passenger side but insurance paid for the damage

definitely take it to a mechanic to get it inspected.. whoever repaired the passenger side may not have done such a good job, and might have missed a bigger problem as well..

Will do, thx.

The guy said he was going to replace it with stock shocks but decided not to since i told him I'd be putting coilovers on.

Does anyone know a good brand that carry coilovers for under $1k?

Stance LX+ !!!

Depends on what you're looking for. The LX+ are advertised as comfort and "luxury car" ride. I don't plan to track the car, it's simply my daily driver. I got the LX+ recently and I can't help but say this is the way a G should ride! Not to mention the height adjustability. I love them!

Really? I'm planning 1-2" on drop. I dont exactly have money for rims at the moment and i know even with a lowered car w/ stock rims, it'll still look good. Is the drive nice and smooth?

Will this coilover system be ok for occasional drags at the strip?

Also, how much did the Stance run you price-wise?
