Painting my new-ish 06-07 calipers...need some opinions.

I got myself a set of 06-07 calipers ( Front + Rear ) from a 2007 G35 Coupe for $150 which I believe is a pretty good price so I snatched them up. I'm thinking about painting them but don't want red or blue or anything like that. What I was thinking was maybe smoothing out the casting on the calipers and painting them Desert Platinum ( my oem paint color ). Does that sound like a bad idea?

Here are the calipers ( the front ones anyways ):

And here is my car:

I already have the DP paint from having painted my rear quarter panel ( which I did myself ) and left over clear. I would just need to smooth out the rough casting and paint+clear and polish it. It should come out super shiny. Do you guys think it would look good?

Also, do these pads look oem?

They came with the calipers and if they are oem I think I might as well run them...I've heard pretty good stuff about the oem pads and they seem to have half their life left.

IMHO DP would look great. Subtle enough for stockish calipers, but smoothed out and nicely finished...

Honestly removing the casting mark isnt all that necessary since it wont be noticed just clean and prep them well b4 painting, and i wouldn't reuse those pads they are alittle more then halfway done

You might be right...I just want them to look as smooth as possible. Primer alone should do it though.

As for the pads, I compared them to another set I have of cheapo pads which are pretty much new and these are half the thickness. I'd probably just use them till I get some badass pads.

To paint them silver I might as well just paint them DP which looks silver 90% of the time and it's free since I already have the paint..lol. Gunmetal isn't a bad idea though.

You got plenty of pad left on the one you have showing.

Whether they are OEM or not I am not sure. My 03-04 pads have a bluish colour on their rear side but I am not sure if the blue I am seeing on yours is the same. And when I remove the shims it says Nissan on them.

They have gold plates on them and I read some taking about gold plates on his oem pads so I think they are oem on 06-07's. His car is a 2007 model so I doubt he changed his oem pads and wore these down so quickly.
