Uneven Pad Wear (pic)
Uneven Pad Wear (pic)
Hey guys,
I just replaced my rear pads and rotors. This is a picture of my old pads as they are on the car. Meaning, the pads on the left are the outer and inner pads for the driver side rear. Likewise, the pads on the right are the outer and inner pads for the passenger side rear.
One of the pads wore faster than the other three. That one being the inner pad on the passenger (right) side. Would that be caused by a stuck or malfunctioning caliper? I don't know much about brakes, really, but it seems that it may be the caliper since the piston pushes on the inner pad (the one that's worn more).
Furthermore, my car pulls to the right slightly, but my alignment is fine. I'm not sure what's causing the pull.
Any ideas? Should I just bleed my brakes? Or could it be something else?
Since replacing with new pads and rotors, the car still pulls to the right. And if you're wondering, it happens even on level roads.

By the looks of it, you had some rust .... most likely that's what caused one of pads to not "flow" as freely in the caliper and rub more causing the wear. I had that happening on my car. It would cause uneven wear but not the pulling to one side, that's a seperate issue.
Personally, I think calipers/brakes should be serviced once a year where they are taken apart, everything is cleaned up, and re-greased.
When you replaced them, did you do it yourself? Were they hard to remove from the calipers or just poped out without applying any force?
And lastly, the whole rust issue seems to occur a lot more on the rears than the fronts in my car.
