tell me about coil overs (whats hot and whats not)

looking to lower my 03 sedan, but have been lost as to what to do. over the past month iv been looking into springs, but i want a big drop, and from what iv read here it will stuff up the stock shocks eventually anyways.. so im thinking of getting coilovers..

iv been looking here in AU and in the US. we have alot of cheap **** being flogged over here, so i just wanted to ask the question of what coilovers over there (in the US) are **** and to avoid, and whats decent (for road use and maybe a little bit of track stuff, nothing major)

cheers

I have H&R coilovers and I'm super happy with them...especially since they cost me like $900 brand new.

I bought the K-sport Kontrol Pro coilovers, and I must say they are awesome. I have had them on my car for almost a year now. I have my G dropped about 21/2in in the back and about 2 inch in the front. I must say for the $930 I spent on them they are very nice. I would also suggest replacing your sway bars if you haven't already, it will make you car handle like no tomorrow. I have Stillin front and rear bars. I must say that taking corners weather it be on a track or on the street my car sticks like glue. The best of luck

In the sub $1K range...

H&R and Tanabe aren't in the linked thread...

I thought about H&R but researched Tanabe and liked what I found... I took a chance (because no one else did) and I really like the Pro S-OC

You won't find any reviews on a G35 (other than mine) - but there are a few (very limited) reviews of their other coilovers... and enough info about the company, the way they make their products and reviews from other cars...

Or you can follow the trend = BC, Tein...

I like deviating from the flock every now & then

i too wanted something different so i went w/ KW coilovers. i have the Variant 1s. no complaints. they don't have adjustibility for dampening but then again, i knew that i would probably never mess w/ it, anyway.

i had friends who ran V2s and V3s on their beemers and mercs and they said quality was good so i went w/ them.

plus, i got a good deal on them; under 1k.

KW are becoming a pretty common option - good choice and several ppl have 'em...

I was set on V3 - but then realized I really dont need that level of adaptability... and no reason to dump more unnecessary money on the car (enough of that for a while )

Another vote for KW here; very taught and composed ride.

Although for my current car I'm probably going to look at HKS Hipermax for extra JDM cool points.

i've had mine for a while now; at the time i only knew of ttrank who was running them.

everyone was like 'so, did you get the V3s?' uh, no. like you said, i honestly knew i'd never touch any of the settings after i found a ride height that i liked. i'm just lazy that way plus the V3s are $$$

are teh sway bars in teh 35s the same items as the 350's? if they are i should be able to get them in AU instead of importing them form the states.
