Noise from wheel when turning slowly....HELP!!!
Not too long ago, my car started making a high pitched squealing noise from what sounded like the rear wheels. I took it to the deal at 59K miles and they claimed it was the brakes and said new brake pads and resurfaced rotors would get rid of the noise. I did the right thing and got a second opinion before my warranty was to expire hoping they were just trying to sell me on their cheap brake pads. I went to a local car shop that I trust and they told me it was indeed the brakes.
I relented and bought some new HPS Hawks for the back brakes where the car shop felt it was coming from. (I had changed out my front with HPS with them as well). After taking the car home, the sound was still there. We ended up bringing it back and the car shop kept the car for the entire day and could not figure it out.
The "master" mechanic said he took the brakes down a few time and greased every possible moving part. He was able to replicate the sound and kept going in circles. He offered to continue to look at it if we can drop it off for another day.
As nice as that is, I don’t believe that its the brakes. It only happens when the car is moving very slowly during a full right turn as if you are turning right into a parking spot. It occasionally does that turning left. I think the mechanics thinks its the brakes is because I have to slow down to make the turn in. I have been trying to get the car to go very slow without braking and making a right turn but haven’t been able to recreate the sound.
Does anyone have any suggestions. Also, before the pads were replaced, shaking the car from the driver side rear seats make the sound appear. Its gone now. I don’t know what to believe, but its super embarrassing when you turn into a place to park and your car is making an annoying squealing noise.
The worse part of this is that now my car is out of warranty. ARGH.
Thanks in advance for any ideas. BTW, this is on my wife’s FX35. My 03 G35 has its own problems. SIGH...

Ever find out what it was? I'm hearing a noise from the driver's side when I turn the wheel. It's when I turn it to the left, I think. I can hear it when the car is on or off. I think I hear it a little bit when someone got out of the back seat, too. Makes me think it's suspension related. I wonder if the strut up there is acting up.
I have an 06 coupe that developed a squeaking noise. At first I thought it was the rear brakes, but the noise did not occur under only under braking. I heard an intermittent squeak at slow speeds (under 10mph) and the noise got faster as I sped up. I could not hear it at all at speeds above 30 mph (frequency could have been outside the range of human audibility).
It turned out the "bolt" that releases the rear brakes rusted because the rubber gasket that was supposed to cover it wore out. The brakes were not fully releasing...I was basically driving with my rear brakes partially engaged.
Had to replace rear pads (plenty of life left but totally destroyed), the damaged calipers, and the rotors. Might be worth looking into the calipers.
