What are the advantages of adjustable shocks vs none adjustable.
my coupe is 05
From 4.5 and on all coupes were F 314 R 427.
My H-tech springs are progressive springs tho. So that's what makes them (rear) stiffer perhaps under more load (in turns and such) and softer at launches.
But these springs are designed to transfer about 30% of stiffness to the front.

According tot the sticky, your coupe rear springs are 342, not 427 unless it was a sport (had 19" Rays on it). Z's 04.5-up are 427.
Oem linear springs
G35 coupes with oem 17’s & 18’s
G35 sedan’s with sport suspension
350Z’s 2003/2004 (unrevised)
Front:314 Rear:342
Oem linear springs
G35 coupes 2005/2006 with oem 19’s only
350Z 2004.5 to 2006 (revised suspension)
Front:314 Rear:427
I'd do what Jeff says and hit the 350z NW section, pick up some low-mile revised shocks and run them til they blow (or not).

mine did came with 19s
I guess I'll pick up some new 350Z shocks and give them a run.
Another 90k here we come
That depends on a price tho. If they cost same as D spec I'll go with those prolly

^ Kinda in the same boat with you Joker.
Am going lower with 350z stechs and htechs and was looking at dspec's vs. hp's vs. oem 350z shocks over at my350z. The general consensus there was......no consensus at all. Except that the dspec's are worth it, that is. But everyone knows that
.
Some had no problems with oem 350z shocks or hp shocks, but several wrote of problems either or between the two while going with aftermarket springs.
Jim (Gsedan35), who started up our suspension sticky, commented on HP's here:

The reason I went with dspecs is bc I was getting tired of my stock G sport shock/350z revised ride.
I felt that setup was a good ride don't get me wrong, but recently I was having some back pain and decided I wanted to soften things out in the car and at home (mattress).
First thing I did was grab some dspecs and htechs from a member here. I got the DSP 9s which are a shorter shock vs the DSP 7s.
The good thing about them is that there's a shorter shock but it gets full travel meaning the ride is not jarring or bumpy like when you have a shorter spring on the longer stock shock. Keep in mind driving a car with a longer stock shock /shorter spring usually wears out your stock shocks ALOT faster bc its working double time thanks to the shorter spring and different spec spring rates vs the stock spring rates rates.
Currently, I have my dspecs set to 6.5 turns from full stiff and the ride is very comfortable (Lexus like) & I still have great handling thanks to my Stillen Sways (set full hard front/medium rear)
The best part is that these shocks give you a wide range of ride quality options depending on your needs at the time. If you need a stiffer setup, adjust the setting harder. If you need a softer street friendly ride, adjust it softer. Its that simple.
I can track with these, adjust them for street comfort and give my parents a ride with no complaints...whereas before my dad would complain when I'd hit bumps on the road with my stock g shocks / revised 350z springs.
The dspecs are working out well for me and getting the job done. If I decide to upgrade the suspension from here, I'll upgrade to a nice set of coil overs and call it a day. For now let's say I'm very happy with the ride and know my shocks won't fail because I'm running lower springs

Now that I'm not sure. I would think the HP Blues are the same for both G35 and 350zs and that they only make one size.
I don't recall reading about different HP Blue model shocks for our cars.
My guess would be, if you're not too crazy about adjustable shocks and just want a slightly softer than stock feel, you'd be okay with the HP blues and 350z Htechs.
If you want a more softer in the rear ride, go for the G35 htechs. Either one should drop your car almost an 1" around and look pretty good.
Are you using any aftermarket sways at the moment? If not, I'd recommend you pick up a set while you're at it. I'm using the Stillens and love em.

My main concearn is to get proper shocks for my already installed springs.
I'm not looking for adjustability, but if D-spec shocks are the ones that will work with my springs than that is my choice.
But if HP series turn out to be same size I would rather get those instead. Or any stock shock (like revised 350Z shocks).
Unfortunately it's not easy to find needed information.
Everybody just sells them and does not provide any quality info.

well if anyone cares I'm still trying to figure out which shocks/struts to go with.
even tho lot's of people suggest to go with 350Z set up I'm still confused on how is that a good choice.
Since I'm running 350Z H-Tech springs they are supposedly lower than 350Z original springs. So that means that they will preload 350Z OEM shocks struts.
So I would be getting pretty much same **** that I got now with my OEM G35 shocks/struts (little better).
Now it is a knows fact that Tokico has two models of D-spec shocks (one for 350 one for g35) Difference between those two is that rear shock is shorter for 350Z.
Does anyone know if they have a 350Z version of HP series and if they do, are they much shorter over OEM 350Z shocks/struts.
Or in order to achieve a good PROPER setup I should go with 350Z D-spec shocks/struts?
Also..........Does anyone know if HP series are any longer/shorter than D-spec Tokico shocks/struts?
Anyone wants to shine some light on this subject?
