wow this is confusing, when i searched this subject people say that X awd sits a bit higher then rwd. Thats it, this weekend im going to the dealership with tape measure and ill measure it myself and find the truth lol. It doesnt makes any sense for AWD to be lower then RWD, even the springs are different then rwd.

 

I've got to believe that AWD Rear measurement is a typo, or they're measuring from a different point than we are. My car is sitting .7" higher than those specs on a stock suspension and tires that are about .4" larger in diameter when new (225/55-17), which means somewhere, somehow I've managed to add at least .3" of ride height to my car (my tires are about half worn). I might accept 27.72 or 27.82, but no way is it just 27.32.

I'm getting a Sedan Sport setup for my rear suspension. Once I get that installed and it settles in, I'll re-measure.

 

ok so i went this weekend and measured few cars at the dealership and it turns out that my rear does sits about 3/4 of an inch higher then it should be and i have a bigger wheel gap while the front is ok. the only thing that can be wrong here are the springs, they might be from a different car and i can't think of anything ales any other problems that can cause this. Maybe previous owner did something to it or someone did something like placed wrong springs in by mistake or who knows why. does anyone knows if there is a way o tell if my springs are original or not and does anyone knows the height of the rear spring itself?????????? maybe i can measure it and see if they belong there or not. thanks in advance for the help.

 

Can't find the length of the springs, but info from the Sedan FAQ shows the that AWD has different a unique spring rate in the rear:

Spring Rates
2003 - 2006 - G35 sedan sport suspension spring rates - 314/342
2003 - 2006 - G35 sedan non sport spring rates - 283/308
2004 - 2006 - G35x spring rates - 283/355

A 2006 AWD owner mentioned that his "Rear has one red/pink dot and two yellow dots" whereas G35 sports rear are 1 blue and 2 yellow dots. I can't find the info on the dots for the non-sport.

You could also check that the spring presses against its lower rubber seat at the correct rotation and that the seat is installed at the correct rotation into the lower link (the cup that holds the spring). I don't see how someone would have installed that wrong, but it is possible.

 

thx for the help. when ill have a chance this week ill jack the car up again and see if i cant find these marks to make sure they are the original springs.

now about the spring sitting i have looked in to it before and it sists where it should and i even took the spring out on one side and turned it around just to make sure that it sits in the pocket and i dont see anything wrong there. i have even noticed that the ride feels bumpy on the back. I recently bought this car for my wife.

 

If I have time tonight or tomorrow night I'll take a rear spring out and measure it. I've been wanting to compare it to the rear sport springs I bought a few months ago anyway.

Stock suspension X sits awfully high and looks horrible compared to RWD sedans...
Rwd sedan sits very close to the tire almost tucking, when X is literally easy 3-4fingers high above the tire...
sorry cant help u with exactly how many inches off the ground cause I have almost 2 inch drop on my x.

 

My X seems to be the same height as all of the RWD's I've seen around town. The RWD's I've seen definitely don't look like they are tucking.

Regardless, since the AWD's weigh more, their springs have to be taller than RWD's if they are sitting at the same height or even higher. I'm going to guess around .5".

 

i went to the dealer myself and compered mine with their g35x's and it seems like my rear sits about 1inch higher then the others. they had three X models which were all the same height while my car sits higher. i even parked my car next to X model and my car looks higher then the others. i can easly place 4 fingers into the rear wheel gap on my car, im so confused on this one.

This is what I was talking about, look at the photo and you will see the front wheel gap and the rear gap, as you see the rear sits too high.

 

Wow, yeah that's bad. Definitely something going on there. The car should sit level, but the rear fenders are cut lower than the front so the gap in the front should look quite a bit bigger than the rear.

 

yep exectly it should be the other way around. ill pop them out this weekend again if i get some meassurmets so i can compare the springs that are in there.

 

Front looks fine, i.e. big tire gap, but there's definitely something wrong with the back end. You're much higher than what it should be.
