shaking steering wheel
My apologies if this has been addressed (and it probably has), but I bought a 2008 G35X two weeks ago from an Infiniti dealer. One owner, lease vehicle, 23,000 miles.
When I'm driving on the highway, say 50 mph or faster, and tap the brake, the steering wheel shakes noticeably. I have read that this could be a warped rotor. No problems when I'm going slower or have to stop quickly.
Because I bought it certified pre-owned at a reputable dealer, is it likely that this is the problem? Is this just how the AWD handles? Am I looking at having to fix something? Is the dealer likely to take care of it or will it cost me?
I'm not wanting to deal with this every few years. I wouldn't have bought an Infiniti if I'd expected problems this soon.
Thanks for the help. I'll probably take it in on Friday.

I have this exact problem with my G35 coupe. Its your rotors. Im sure ur head unit bounces with the car to.. Its totally fixable, im almost 100% positive its your rotors. When i get my new rotors, i will let you know if it fixes my problem.
Most likely possible causes if the shake occurs when NOT using the brakes:
* Improper lug nut torque (were they tightened by hand gradually and in a star pattern?)
* Tire imbalance
* Bent wheel
* Out of round tire (hell, they all are, but sometimes worse than normal)
* Brake rotor imbalance
* Worn control arm bushings
* Worn tie rod ends
* Worn dampers (shocks)
* Worn strut bushings
* CV joint problem
Most likely possible causes if the shake occurs when using the brakes:
* Improper lug nut torque
* Uneven pad transfer layer on rotors (redo the pad bed-in procedure)
* Pad print off on rotor (must be scrubbed heavily or turned to remove)
* Worn control arm bushings
* Worn tie rod ends
* Worn dampers (shocks)
* Worn strut bushings
Good luck hope you find the problem...
