Damaged Suspension- ER for Suspension Gurus!
Ok so here is the story:
Got into an accident. 180 into a curb and damaged the rear suspension. Insurance is taking care of things. Body work is finished (Car found a mailbox on it's way into the ditch) and now the suspension was swapped.
So far rear arms, subframe / X brace was replaced and a bunch of other parts. Issue now is that the rear camber is out still even after the repairs. From my understanding, camber should be for 19" rims at 1.8 degrees. Currently I am at 2.1 and 2.0 on the rear.
The shop cannot figure out what is wrong since it's such a tiny change they cannot see anything damaged. This is now day 33 without my car and I'm in danger of missing the opening car show season!
They thought about the spindles being bent but they don't believe this to be the case as one would be positive and one would be negative you would think sliding sideways into a concrete curb. They thought perhaps the springs could be sagging causing the extra camber? On an 06??
I mean, I have some extra weight in the rear with the stereo but still, would that be reasonable?
At this point I am contemplating cutting a deal. If they order more OEM parts for repairs I could be waiting months while they continue to order, replace... test... order, replace.... test. I have a buddy who can get me Function & Form Type-II coilovers and front and rear camber kits for 1300 flat shipped. In theory I could try and cut a deal and say "look, this could cost you guys more money in the long run. Let's just do this and call it done."
Anyone have any input? I want the car by Sat and this would mean cutting a deal and over-nighting parts tomorrow. What else could be wrong with the suspension at this point? Putting 20" rims on tomorrow as well and praying for the best.
OPINIONS! GIMME!
Honestly you think that much weight loaded on the springs would do that much of a camber change?
Not sarcasm, really serious. I mean, with the weight on the springs you think it would change the camber that much?

I was thinking of this... Discussing with my friends and I am curious...
The trunk is on but the light is out so the button to pop the trunk is not there. The suspension shop has no clue what is there... I thought alignments were up in the air suspended with the springs all the way out ie not compressed. I guess I thought wrong? The car is on an actual rack to compress itself?
This could make more sense.... I need some other peeps to chime in on this.

You will be fine with the 2.0 & 2.1 degrees of camber. I would not worry about it too much unless your toe is off you won't go through tires like crazy. With this camber setup you will have better cornering but with all the stuff in the trunk I don't think it would matter. LOL
Agreed but logically car needs to be put back to where it was originally. That means the insurance company is going to have to pay out part by part until we figure out what is wrong....
OR I could try having them bite for the 1300 flat and call it done. Makes sense to me :-D
Hope for the best today.....
