Wheel bearings and Hubs shot ??? Help

I took the car to the dealership because i thought my wheel bearing in the front right wheel was shot, the dealer tells me both wheel bearings and hubs are shot and need to be replaced. Now i believe the bearings are done, but can the hubs really be shot?? or are they trying to make money... the guy i went to in the dealer offered me a good deal... he'll fix both bearings and hubs and only charge me for 1 of each, but i'd have to get my tmps moniter replaced as well.. thats the part of the deal... has anyone had bad hubs??? i wanna just fix the bearings myself, but if it ends up being the hub, i would lose out on money, considered the dealership woulda fixed everything... help please..

at my work, some guys will try and sell the hubs when doing wheel bearings only b/c its easier for them and the labor involved in removing the old bearings and pressing new bearings in vs just getting new hub and bearing was not much difference. hubs dont just go bad. its not a moving part

idk man... i've been reading up on other forums and some people say hubs do go bad... if they arent smooth on the inside where the bearing meets it then its "time to replace the hub" ... im not 100% convinced... i really hope its just the bearings... it would save me $300

well you do what you feel is best. but i can tell you that out of the many, many wheel bearings ive done, i have only had to replace one hub assembly b/c the seating lip cracked when the bearing was being pressed in. as for the "rough edge" that is just a rust/salt corrosion ring from living in a salt state. it can be cleaned out and the new bearing will press in just fine

the wheel bearings and hubs are together for these cars.....they might be sayin its both cuz they cant figure out which side it is coming from tho. which is lame being that you can use chassis ears or a stethascope to pinpoint wheelbearing noises if you cant already tell just by driving it.

theycan be ordered both together (already pressed) or seperate (hub and bearing)

i htink they are quoting him both just b/c its easier or the cost is not much more for the combined assembly

Well for RWD i know they come together, but for AWD, the sell the parts seperate... so you have to compress them if your gonna do it yourself... and the RWD hubs-that include bearings in them are much cheaper.. the cost of one RWD hub/bearing is equal to the cost of just 1 hub-without a bearing for AWD.

i dont know much about the sedans but is it possible that they use the same bearing assembly as the rwd or the coupes? check the part numbers
