Pull handle for parking brake-HELP me figure this out!!!

As some of you may know, my legs don't work as well as they used to. My 5AT G coupe is actually a really good car for someone in a wheelchair to get in and out of...but I have this one problem. A PEDAL for a parking brake. Not only can I not use it but it gets in the way when I am pulling my legs in and out of the car.

I've already scraped my first idea of swapping in a 6mt console with hand brake. The fitment issues around the AT shifter were a road block...not to mention I would loose my longer arm rest that comes in handy for using the hand control.

So onto my next idea and I am determined to make this work. I want to remove the foot pedal and install a pull handle hand brake under the the dash. This has to be possible...I just have to figure out how. I have seen pull handles on Toyota pick-ups and other older cars so I'm not sure if I could get one of those mechanisms to work or if I could find a universal kit. Help me figure this out! Thanks

I mean, with the position of where the cable is on the pedal, it might not be so hard to extend it and make a handle that goes right above where you pop the trunk and turn off the traction control. That way you're not reaching down real far to engage/disengage it. But then again, I wouldn't have the slightest idea on how to start a project like this.

Nice, i love these kinds of threads cause i can throw out some weird *** ideas.

How about this?

Remove the pedal contact on the pedal arm and replace it with a ball-socket joint connected to a electrically powered linear actuator. Bolt the other end of the actuator to a bracket connected to either the floor or the bulkhead behind the dash (you'll need this for support).

Run a three position switch (forward - stop - reverse) to the center console to start the linear actuator and it will push the pedal down for you. To release the brake, tap the button forward for a second and then press reverse. No more pedal and it'll take care of the clearance issues with the shifter.

I just now noticed that you're from C-bus; I'm in Cincinnati. If you want an extra hand with the install, gimme a holler!
