Brakes are these pads worn out?

Sorry guys but i'm an idiot when it comes to these things.

Can you look at this picture I took today and tell me if these front pads need replacing. I know its been a while since they were replaced.

Rotors might be shot too Car has 90k and I never replaced the rotors.

Thanks!

Really hard to tell from the picture. Are the wear indicators (little metal tabs that stick out from the pad toward the rotor) very close to the rotors? Have you measured the thickness of the pads?

And, yes, 90k on original rotors is a lot. I'd replace them for sure.

If you are a really easy and smooth driver, 90K on a 2005 and newer is not that uncommon. If you don't hear a squealing/grinding when you apply the brakes they are most likely OK for now. Have them checked, if you haven't run them down to bare metal yet, the rotors may be saved by a little cheap machine work.

Pads still have plenty of life. 90k on original rotors is unberievable!! I would recommend replacing those on the next service rather than getting them turned.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I bit the bullet and got new pads and rotors from firestone today for 410 after tax.

I drive back and forth from miami to fort lauderdale(40 miles plus) a day, so I figured its better to be safe than sorry.

I had the original rotors and besides some bad pulsing when braking at high speeds, the g35 still stopped pretty well.

^ yikes...

honest i didn't think the pads needed to replace. unless you bought it new and put those 90k yourself.. i would think someone replaced them once at some point but the damage is done.

YIKES at the 410 price, i just ordered front pads/rotors and rear pads and rotors for my dad's maxima cost me $112.xx SHIPPED i'm doing the work myself but even if you took it to a shop it would be like $200 to install everything. Its too late now but next time if you dont need something ASAP poke around in terms of pricing, you overpay places like firestone because of convenience and thats about it.

Decent rotors for the G are $130 each and a set of pads is $60-75.00. There are a million more Maxes out there and therefore the lower price.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
^^Not necessarily true. I got all 4 Centric premium rotors for my 05 for $230 shipped and Hawk HPS pads all around for $90 shipped. That's total replacement with quality parts for $320 and I did all the work myself to replace them.

IMHO that pad was less than 1/2 worn. But it's the inner pad you need to look at as they tend to get worn faster than the outer. That rotor doesn't look that bad from what I see.

But it looks like you haven't driven the car for a few weeks?

What year? 2004 and earlier are cheaper than 2005 and later.

not so on the sport sedans... and when they first came out there were not any aftermarket pads for a while. Im on my second set of front rotors and
3rd set of front pads (rotors turned the first time) and will probably replace the back rotors soon.

rockauto lists 03-04 front rotors made by centric the prem to be $46 and 05-06 to be about $65. centric makes powerslot rotors so no idea where you get $130 each from. I think OE rotors for the 05-06 are about $112...

Yes maxes are lower in cost but I was just saying, he could of saved some cash doing a bit of research online. He spent some time posting, he could of looked on rockauto or amazon for these prices, firestone most likely just got some generic stuff like semi-met pads. But whats done is done.
