best way to route rear damper extensions on a g35 coupe?

I've seen several different ways of ppl doing this, but i dont want to do the 90 degree angle where it bends the rear extensions, i want the extensions to be straigh so that i can feel the clicks when i adjust them. so what is the best way to route these that will go straight and not have to bend?

If i do it straight, where will the opposite end be located? through my rear speaker deck?

That's what I did.

Though I don't notice distinct "clicks" when I turn the adjustment extensions. I just note where the white mark is oriented when I turn it and count.
