RacingBrake BBK issues?

Anyone have issues with RB's 6/4-POT BBK setup?

Already searched but couldn't find anything. I recently tried installing this BBK on my car. The rears installed with little problem, just had to hammer the E-brake covers back a little . The fronts however do not seem to fit properly. The right caliper literally sits on top of the rotor, and the left just barely scrapes. After installation we managed to get all four rotors turning freely, but during the test drive, the right caliper would grind on the front rotor after 8-10 stops. Everything was tightened down. I have an 06 coupe w/non brembos.

This is the set I'm having problems with. V

Already contacted RacingBrake about the problem but they don't seem to be much help right now.

Never have problem with their 6pot setup; but if you do and if RB cannot help, a potential fix is to have a reputable shop install shim of proper size to fix the clearanace issue.

Ttrank ran their BBK for a while he never had any issues. +1 on going to a reputable shop to have them install it.

Thanks for the help. I already picked up a piece of steel that will be suitable as a shim but I will be taking it to a shop to install since my patience ran out already.

Update

I finally go this issue resolved. I've spent the majority of yesterday at RacingBrake's HQ here in CA where they were troubleshooting my problem. Apparently the shims used with the SPC camber kit (front) would not allow either of the aftermarket calipers to mount properly. The mechanic down there was very helpful, spent 5 hours working on my car free of charge. We removed the shims and installed everything with no issues. Even with a 1.5"+ drop and the shims removed, an alignment shop still managed to get my camber to a -.02/.03.

I have never heard of this issue before so I figured I'd share this.

I thought it was recommended to not install the SPC provided shims with the front camber kit? Glad it was resolved for you, now get out there and enjoy slowing down.

Installing the shims requires the need for special washers to be installed behind the wheel sensor mount, which some members don't do and end up having problems with the VDC, ABS....etc. If these were installed properly then there would be no issues, I didn't think they would interfere with a BBK though.

Thanks...Eventually I will have them repainted. Both front calipers are covered with paint chips, plus the first shop I went to managed to get brake fluid on a few spots. The rears are in decent shape.

You buy these use or have you beat them up a bit trying to get them on? I just noticed the chips on the front driver side caliper.

FYI, unless you specified, RB brake kits come with street pads which do not last that long on the track. I had a misinformed friend who wore his set down to metal on the track because he assumed they came with a race compound. He ruined the rotors and had to eat the cost because it was basically his fault for not realizing that. Just be aware of what pad you have if you go do some track time.

I bought the set used and they came with all the paint chips. I might get them repainted soon.

Damn that sucks. Won't be visiting a road course for a while but I'll remember that. Currently, the rear pads are Hawks and the fronts are RBs(non-race pad).
