03-04 Brembo vs 05+ OEM brakes
From what I know, Infiniti changed the brakes from the brembos to the non-brembos in the newer models because something wasn't that good about the brembos.
My question is: What is are the negatives of the brembos? Why do people want to buy brembo brakes?

The two biggest factors were dust and cost.
The Brembos dust up a lot and get the wheels dirty really quickly. Guess luxury car owners didn't expect that and complained a lot.
The Brembos also quite pricey both in terms of cost and replacement. From the factory, the costs are ridiculous (hence why most go aftermarket). The removal of the Brembos in the 05+'s also saved some budget which could be spent on improving the interior and adding better materials.
As for why people want to buy them, they're great brakes. While most tests show that the 05's can stop in similar distances to the Brembo models, it's multiple stops and fade resistance where the Brembos are superior. I'm sure the cachet of the name doesn't hurt either (there's a reason why most high end sports cars come with Brembos).

No. if there was Nissan would have stop putting them on the 350Z's.
They only stopped making them b/c of the complaints from customers reporting high brake dust and replacement parts. Some people had to replace pads and rotors every 10k miles and werent happy. If you want oem BBK's go with Akebonos.

I have an '04 Coupe- the Brembos have been flawless. Replaced the pads with Hawk HPS pads which are low on dust, quiet, and are great. The car has 68,000 miles and still going strong on the original rotors. Smooth, quiet, great feel. Whenever I drive a non-Brembo G, the brakes feel grabby and like an on-off switch.
For an '06, it's not so clear cut to go with Akebonos. Keep in mind the rotors and calipers for the Akebono set up are bigger and add more unsprung weight, plus they are costlier. You'd be better off, and have an easier time w/installation, finding a used set of Brembos.
The 05 non brembo front rotors weigh ~ 17lbs. An Akebonon oem rotor is like ~28-30lbs.
Addinng 10lbs of rotational weight = FTL.
Brembos would be a reasonable upgrade with acceptable levels of rotor weight increase

I would only go with the Akebonos if I wanted a cost viable 4-wheel BBK to fill up a wheel for daily driving and show purposes. I would not get them for performance at all because there are not nearly as many pad and rotor options as the OEM brembo package and not anywhere near the level of performance of a proper BBK setup from companies like Stop-Tech.
