No issues with my hawk hps. Way less dust, no noise. Braking isnt a problem in the morning or when its cool out. I had some porterfields on my licoln ls now those thing sucked when cold

 

Yeah i know they're brake pads. but will they fit oem calipers and rotors? because they're in good condition and i don't want to replace them.

 

Yes, I sell them to fit oem calipers as do many other places.

 

Axxis is not bad if you're just looking for something cheap and decent. In my opinion they're better than genuine crap from the dealer. Recently I had genuine installed and I swear my rims goes dark gray (brake dust) within a week.

 

As someone who JUST changed his pads/rotors (monday to be exact), I can put in my .02.
I have an 06 G35 sedan...pad choices are limited compared to the 03-04 guys. That's the main reason I went with the Hawks. I had OEM pads, fronts were original pads/rotors, rears were original rotor/new pads at 45,000 miles, ALL OEM brakes. I switched to Centric Rotors and Hawk HPS pads. OEM has better initial bite, but the Hawks brake harder. I've had them on for less than a week, so I can't say much about dust on the Hawks, but OEM there was very little dust if any. I think the Performance Ceramic, would've been the closest to OEM choice w/o going with Oem Pricing. The article posted above is helpful for sure. I would say give the Performance Ceramics a try and report back to us since this is more of a Performance orientated Forum, most of us would've chose the HPS if we had a choice between the two.

^The OP has an '03 Sedan so his brake setup isn't quite the same as yours.

I have the smaller, dusty brakes and plan on trying out some Wagner Thermoquiets the next time my pads need changed. I've used them in the past on other cars and was happy with them. They can be picked up at RockAuto.com for a steal until September 30th.

 

My OE brake pads were replaced by my dealership at 10K miles and I had thick fugly dust on my wheels just driving a couple miles. Replaced them with HAWK HPS pads and I've put 22K miles on them since and very little dust. Next few months I plan on installing DBA rotors and I'll be using a new set of HAWK HPS pads and doing the "bed/break in process" to insure very little noise....my two cents.

I went with the Project MU BForce pads Front and Rear. The bite great in cold or hot weather. A whole lot less dust than OEM. After about 10 months and 10,000 miles, they are still at 70% front and 60% rear pad material left. This is on a 2005 G35X Sedan.

 

but project mu cost a premium. in all cases double the cost of Wagner Thermoquiets...

I'm pretty sure at this point any non-oem pad will dust less. I haven't seen one person say they came across a pad that dusted equal to or more then.

 

You get what you pay for... "buy cheap, buy twice".

 

dont get wagners, they make too much noise even after applying some lube to them. its crazy

 

i dont believe that saying applies to this. brake pads aren't lifetime type of deal, they are design as wear and tear products, 30k is the least i expect from any pad unless its for track duties.

Labor to replace it yourself or paying someone isn't all that much either. This is most likely more of preference. Reason why hawks gets decent reviews are because they are nicely priced right in the middle and have applications on a lot of platforms.

Now Project Mu is a very big name in Japanese brake products that haven't made such a huge impact here in the states and i dont think they plan to at all. Its hard to for anyone to really say if project Mu is any better then HPS or any other brand. because your likings and my likings are always bias. You might like instant grab, head jerking, stop on a dime performance and i might like soft spongy long pedal travel. In the end if they stop the car thats what really matters. Wish there was more reviews on project mu on this board.

 

Project Mu only lists brake pad options for the 350z. Will the 03+ 350z PM brake pads work for my 2006 6mt G35 sedan?

 

Thermoquiets? I've heard nothing but good things about them and have used them on other cars in the past with great results.

 

no, go with the similiar year Z and you will be good. 03-04 G35 brakes are different from 05-06. The Z somewhat runs on the same but not sure which year they flipped it at. i would order 06-07 350z non brembo brakes IF they make them.


+1 i've heard plenty of good things on other platforms not a nissan specifically. Most people who run wagner seem to be domestic guys but never heard/seen a complaint or issue.
