Suspension setup masters (racers), I need your help.

For those of you who are constantly taking the G to the road courses, I have a question for you.

I currently have a set of HKS Hypermax 3 (non-sport), but the spring rate is waaaay too low for my likings, and was wondering if it would be possible to just change the springs from my current setup.

If it is possible, what would be the consequences? Will it effect the dampening rate as well? Would I need to send my coilovers to HKS to get them revelved?

I used to have a prototype JIC coilovers with 12k/10k spring setup, but the current HM3 only has 8k/9k setup. The front is noticeably softer than the JIC, and it dips waaaay too much going over the bumps and dips and is much less stable when taking hard turns....

Should I just sell the HM3 and get soemthing else? or can I change the springs on them? I'd prefer something like 14k/12k setup and am looking into Swift Springs option.

You pretty much answered your own questions...The HM3 setup is not ideally valved for racing of any sort. Changing the springs would create an unsettling experience because of the mismatched valving.

You're best solutions are to send them in for revalving and new springs or sell them and get something else.

For a cost effective race setup, i would check to see if BC has their ER series (External Resevior). They have a great rebuild program and the ER series should allow some really nice dampening adjustments for use on and off the track.

Otherwise, if you want some baller club-level setups, I would look into JRZ-double adjustables, but I dont know if they make them for your model.

Call HKS and ask them if they have stiffer springs and if HM3 shock can support stiffer springs.
