messed up installing rear coils

as i was finishing installing my rear coils today, i proceeded to tightening the two top 12 nuts that hold the shock in place. this was the result of me over tightening it.

the bolt snapped, not allowing me to tighten the top part. i took my car for a spin, and i could hear the top part clapping against the top part. i tried removing the bolt, but it is not budging. any tip guys on how to remove the bolt? i tried hitting it out, but all in vague. thanks.

That bolt/stud is tack welded on the top side.

the only thing i can think of is drilling that stud completely through and put a new stud/bolt from the bottom to the top and put some spacers and a nut to hold it in basiclly opposite from the factory studs.

yea i was thinking that as well, and it may be my only option. problem is, no matter what i do, it wont budge. do you think if i heat it up, or grind it in half vertically, id be able to remove it?

my best bet is to grind the top part and try to drive the remaining down....take a pictures of the top part inside the trunk

I tried accessing it through the trunk, but it's not accessible through there. Only place i can actually play with the top of the bolt is through the circle that is visible when you remove the shock.

Either drill it out or use an air hammer/chisel to break the tack..

I was thinking about drilling a new hole through the shock frame and through the body. And just insert a new bolt in, what do you guys think?

Why do that when you can just drill out the stud and replace with new bolt?

+1^ Also what you can try to do is get like a 1/8 bit drill maybe a size smaller and drill thru the center of the brken stud. It will break the stud into little pieces and eventually come out without messing up the thread. Try it it will take some time, but its better than drilling a different hole elsewhere.
