Wow didnt know mdu made an oem style coilover. I used to have mdu true style on my Z. The first version(red) had scary low spring rates of 5kg front and 4kg rear the newest(gold) which i had is 10kg front and 7kg rear. Found that maxing the drop out the rates were too high and bounced. Purchased 7kg springs for the front(from swift springs) and felt smoother and went lower. Then bought 6kg oem sized springs for the rear and went lower with a now oem style setup. Dropped front 3.25 rear 3.75 and felt like my Z was on a cloud. Remember its the dampers that control compression not the spring, the spring controls rebound so higher rates = violent bounce

I know ^that might seem complicated to some but steering and suspension was my first ASE certificate a long time ago. I later created my own full custom suspension from QA1 parts and some one off welding and fabricating (good thing i work at a machine shop for GE)

With rolled fender flanges I'll lower the rears 1 1/2" ; fronts 2". This is part of appearance, test and trial to what makes the best set-up all around.

The drop is adjustable therefore ride height can change should ride issues occur like tire rubs. Negative camber is planned to meet alignment spec's for a 350Z on this sedan.

I've 10K linear front springs x 200mm lg in this kit because that is the way it is sold.

If front spring rebound is too violent, I'll switch the rear 7Kg x 200mm to the front coilover shock body and maybe use 6kg x 200mm on rears attempting to get the cloud ride.

What Cornell wrote about z spring rates & positioning makes sense to me and appears that experience should be respected. We'll find out in time.

It is a lot easier and more fun to read than some of the gibberish on here.
There is some horrible 3rd grade spelling on here that is painful to read.

Entertainment to say the least.

My Z was hit while parked with mdu coils on. The rear subframe cracked, oem traction arm broke, spc camber arm broke, no damage to the coils not even a leak. I guess the ten year old that welded them over in china might know what he's doin.

Thats why evenone is scared of cheap parts from china. They dont cost a fortune because some old guy thats been welding for years isnt getting paid $30/hr to fab them(if not a robotic arm). Its probably some kid making $10/day if hes lucky

Its better the staff decided to moved this "tech" thread to where it should belong in the forum suspension catagory.
This thread was created with skepticism of the "what to get" attitude. Hahaha seemed to be the first responses based on "what"?; a pic of a phony beer bottle and whim.
That's all fun stuff too when we all think back to the phony $25 Rolex watch era.

This coilover kit price is unchallengeable. The uninstalled product factors are now here for all to share knowledge.

As to the build the photos attests to the strength potential of the shock body, clips, tabs and its complete welds. No issue.

I'm sorry to hear of the previous posters accident yet that particular "Z destructive test" suggests no issue with the strength of material and possibly acceptability of oil seals inside.

China sourcing ? Not looking to get flamed here, Thanks

F&R spring physical dimension's allow versatility with set-up options, same I.D.'s and enough is already stated earlier.

The springs demensions will be the same just like the dampers. They are generic that many companies use, such as ksport. Notice ksport and alliance bbk calipers are the same and there is a company in china that sells them even cheaper. We get screwed on price by the middle man. Just like stance now offers adjustable suspension arms, but they are from spl. You wouldnt assume the dealership pays rays engineering a fortune for a wheel that they retail to the public for an arm and a leg. Everyone takes their cut.

Companies that offer higher spring rates like hks for example spend time and money engineering a damper stiff enough to match a higher spring rate. You cant build a stiff race suspension and expect it to ride smooth enough to daily.
