Probably just dust between the pad and rotor...

im having the exact same scenario with my g. Did your pads come with the corners ground down?

my mechanic buddy said performance pads don't have this (to keep more surface area)
this causes brake dust buildup bc the dust has nowhere to go, and thus squelage.

I have yet to grind mine down im waiting for spring so I dont know if this is it for sure. I may be wrong

no the tech grinded down the corners which made them squeal a little less but the sound is still ear piercing

did you break them in properly?

did your tech apply the anti squeal lubricant that comes with the pads?

If they are like the Hawk HPS pads I just had installed, there is a bed-in process that should be followed. Mine are brand new and I also had Brembo rotors installed, no noise yet!

Another thing. If you search for Hawk pads on a google search, or youtube, etc.. there are always a handful of people who say the pads squeal all the time, and then there are people with the same (or similar) setups claiming they never squeal.

You have to break it down and guess after that.

-Brake pad/Rotor combo?
-Bed-in process?
-Installed properly? (used grease between caliper/pad to reduce noise?)

I'm definitely no brake expert, but having recently had my fronts replaced, I have read a lot of posts regarding pads/rotors. And all I have learned about the squealing noise is to cross your fingers and hope for the best. *laughs* There has not been any definitive answers.

This is correct....^....the minute the pads/rotors are installed you need to do the "Bed In Process" that will eliminate any noise by coating the rotors with brake pad under heat. Here's the process to bed your pads. 1. 3 runs 30 to 10 MPH
2. 2 runs 40 to 10 MPH....Process should be completed within 5 minutes so the
3. 1 run 60 to 10 MPH.....rotors & pads are extreemly hot!
Try not to come to a complete stop while using this process, after you're finished park it for at least an hour to cool off. You'll smell heat and see smoke, not to worry that just means you've done your job correctly. Using the anti squeal lube on the outside of the pads while installing is also a must.

That's correct, but also note that there are two different hawk pads...HP+ and HPS. I'm not sure which one squeeks more but I think it's the HP+(even when properly breaked-in). They're aimed more for the tracks where squeeks aren't too embarrassing. To the OP, you might want to check which ones you have.

In addition to all the good advice above, also maker sure that you installed the anti-noise shims.
