Some good information in this thread! I'm currently looking into my next suspension move. I really want air sometime this year but am concerned about reliability. The cup kit idea really seems like a good option. I can see the cup kit working on the G35 front - but what about the rear OEM spring bucket? Do cup kit manufacturers have a solution for the rear OEM style coilover?

Any thoughts? Any first hand experience with cup kits on a G35?

That would be one of the kits I mentioned earlier. Says the basic kit, but I didn't look into what that all comes with. In the pic it shows only 2 shocks with bags so I'm not sure if they include all or not.

Doubt it will work in the rear. Air suspension bags replace the spring. Even if you have a true coilover setup there is not enough room for the air bag.

For the G I believe it's only for the front. The Platinum VIP cup kit fits several cars and they state it only works with the front in certain applications.

What other cup kits do you know of + coilovers that would be less than that?

Thanks for the input. My research continues... I really want something adjustable like air to retain driveability.

Hi guys, i am currently on the market for cup kits. Can you guys suggest some companies that makes them? and which one do you recommend? some of the companies i've researched are:

1.Top Secret Roberuta Cup kits
2. Bold world, which is basically the same as Roberuta
3. Air Force
4. Umbrella
5. Phantom Cup kit

Anyone here who has experiences with cup kits? Or have them on their car? Whcih one will you recommend? Thanks a lot.
Not trying to jack the thread, but it seems like the OP and people here knows more about cup kits. So i figure i ask you guys here for opinions, but if you guys think its better to make a new thread then i will man. Sorry OP, i just need some advice, because i may be in a similar situation as you.

the cup kit idea is cool. i dont really see any point in running one though. the price difference between a cup kit and a regular kit is NOT worth it. or even close to worth it. i would run a slip over bag and call it a day.

It is extremely expensive, but you get the performance of coilovers when the bags are deflated, something you can't get with the common airbag kits.

you can run the slip over bags on the coilovers as well. and you arent going to ride with either one of the kits completely aired out anyways unless you dont plan on laying the car on the ground. which would be an even bigger waste of money.

I don't think every cup kit is meant to be ridden around partially inflated at all times. They truly are only designed to get you up driveways and over speed bumps and the likes.

yea i know. but thats why im saying its an even bigger waste of money. because you arent going to be able to have as much control over what you can do with them as a normal bag kit. paying a couple grand extra just to go up a driveway and not be able to even lay it out sounds stupid to me. but if thats what people want then thats fine.

The Platinum VIP one can be driven with it inflated, but yes as you mentioned the purpose is to be use for driveways, speed bumps, and the like while you drive slammed to the ground.

Here is a response I got a while ago from them regarding their kit just to add some info:

Based off the picture from the link you provided, you car will only be applicable for the front system only with those Function Form II coilovers. I can recommend you coilovers that will work for both front and rear, but for us to customize the Function Form coilovers, it can get a little bit pricey.

So The Phantom Cup Kit is a bag-less air suspension setup. It utilizes your coilovers, and allows you to air up for difficult obstacles. The cups can be filled with air for quite some time. We have not fully tested how long the cups stay up for but the longest I have seen is over 2 weeks since the cups are so precisely made. Installation takes some time but anyone that has installed air bag suspension before can install the Phantom kit in a breeze.

The current promotion for front only setup is $2700 for front only and $3200 for front and rear. But since your coilovers does not allow you to do the rear, we have another package with our coilovers, which are $4100.

Shipping is approximately $100 but you would have to ship us your coilovers so we can custom build the cups for your coilovers. You can also have installation done by us as well.

If you should have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,
Chris Huynh

So this means that we actually can't drive it inflated all the time right? Because i called up Chris a while back and he told me that he has been driving his car with his cup kit inflated for the pass two years with no issues whatsoever, although he didn't specify how the ride feels. But for that price, it think its still a competition for most Cup kits that are available on the market right now.
@kennymo, I know the price are pricey and people tend to go to airbag system because it has more functions and everything, but people like me who wants to go with cup kits are probably because we don't want to compromise on our car's handling and performance but at the same time needed the leverage from time to time to go over obstacles. The cup kits has another advantage and that is, it won't tend to leak like the airbags system that i have heard so much story about.
