Do you slammed guys have passengers?

Hey, so right now, I am on stock suspension... but when i fill up my coupe with passengers and luggage, the rear is dropped pretty low ( i actually like that height). On dips on the freeway, my friend behind me said he saw sparks shoot out from under my car.

My question is.... if i lower the car, how will passengers affect this?
I see some of you have very little clearance, so do passengers even sit in your cars? Will spring rates be all the difference?

yes added weight will lower the car a bit, causing you to rub/scrape

my sedan in slammed and i have 4 passengers in my car, i just take it slow

I only take a front seat passenger, nobody goes in the rear seats I use those for carrying whatever I want/need.

But if you lower you can figure you will have the dampening adjustment which can definitely help. If only most coil systems had extenders to make those kind of adjustments on the fly....

^ or EDFC so it was really on the fly lol

Yes spring rates and dampening will play a big part in that, but so will camber, offset and wheel width.

You have more to learn about suspension geometry and offsets before getting a straight answer about this.

IMO, if you plan to take passengers and luggage, you bought the wrong car.

if you almost always have passengers or luggage. get higher spring rates. and DO NOT GET TIEN BASICS. they dont have damp adjusting.

i only have a front seat passenger and occasionally my daughter in the back. but she only weighs 15 pounds.

But if you had stiffer springs or dampening then your car wouldnt be as bouncy or those sparks wouldnt be there even if you loaded your car up with people.

lol, if i wasn't planning on carrying passengers, i would of gotten a 350z. i'm not saying i always drive people around, but having only 1 person in the car when a whole group of people are going to the same destination is kind of impractical.

I have 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 +15 Varrstoens, on 35/245 and 35/275 Neogens. Not a very extreme set-up.
Trying to keep my alignment as close to spec as possible. do you guys think i'll run into any problems?

Depends on how low you are and what your suspension/dampening will be and camber. I'm pretty low on the same wheels but with 15mm spacers on the rears and running 235/255 respectively. With my dampening set pretty low I could probably take 4 non-fatass passengers as long as the roads aren't terrible...

drop springs on stock shocks or aftermarket shocks will NOT give you the dampening adjustments you need.

you can either run a really stiff drop spring (and have a super slammed but crappy ride) or get a good coilover setup with an EDFC controller to adjust the dampening per the road conditions

I have D2 coilovers that need to be installed, which aren't very popular amongst the G35/350z owners, so there aren't many reviews on them. Pretty sure they don't have EDFC

Honestly, I don't know much about them, but I just snatched them up because I got a good price

and @ Xet, I don't plan on dropping them too much. maybe ~1 finger gap or so

some coilovers can be adjusted on the top of the strut mount (it will have a thumb turn ****) and the fronts can be installed and then adjusted every time you open your hood.

the rears (with adjustment *****) have to be removed each time you want to change the dampening (Stiff to Soft)

EDFC is an electrical box you mount inside your car, which you can adjust all four shock dampners on the fly while driving

During the weekdays I don't. Weekends I do and usually at least another person or two. Sometimes 3 or even a full car. Sometimes passengers in the back are girls, other times they're friends that weigh 200 lbs each. Lots of tire rubbing and wheel scraping, pretty constant. And that's also with a good 30 minute or so drive one way through some crappy streets in Hollywood.

Alone I have a decent amount of gap from the fender to wheel, but with passengers I'm riding on lips, so I good 2 finger drop in the rear. Fronts don't get affected too much, maybe half a finger.
