Buddy Club coilover installation
I started installing Buddy Club Racing Spec coilovers yesterday. Hit a few snags and put in rear set only. Below are notes on front set.
Right away 2 "buyer beware" items
1)rear shock does not have welded on nut. You neeed to buy same part as nut on the front shock. I got all new hardware.
2) rear shock holes are too SMALL!!! I had to stop work and go to hardware store to buy big drill bit and drill the holes out. Thankfully metal is not very difficult to drill.

I screwed in bottom braket for 2 inches. Drop is almost exactly the same as with 350Z springs. It seems that this kit is not for those who are looking for super slammed ride. Picture shows test fit stage-at 1 inch. There're 1 3/8" of drop left before spring perch and bottom bracket meet.(Side note-one of the locking rings is not at the right spot-one is to lock bottom bracket, one is to lock spring perch)

I cut rubber insulators from old floor mat. I didn't care much about the shape as long as it sealed the edge. Factory gaskets are not usable-they are designed to sit around stock shock mount. BC shock mount is flat, so factory gasket would not be centered.


Driving impression(quite limited)-they are firm, but not far from 350Z (revised)springs/Tokico feel. I put shocks at 10 clicks from stiffest position for now and will keep experimenting. Didn't notice any rattle or clunking.

Today I installed fronts. Threaded bottom fork 1.75" and achieved about the same drop as I had with 350Z springs.
Install was easier, BUT fvckin Buddy Club made front fork WIDER than mounting bushing! I had to scramble for washers and was lucky enough to have few lying around.



Ride quality is comparable with 350Z springs, although front springs are much stiffer-something like 14kg/mm
Overall ease of installation-PIA!! Those little annoying things made relatively simple job to stretch for 2 afternoons.
