Are caliper covers good at reducing brake dust?
Are caliper covers good at reducing brake dust?
Hello.
I'm considering buying some caliper covers to cut down on brake dust.
- has anyone done this ? results ?
- any new squeaks, squeals, rattles ?
- do the calipers heat up more since they're not provided direct venting ?
thanks

I dont have any experience, however I would personally look at alternative brake pads first, there are ones out there that produce less brake dust. Also, there are products you can put on your wheels that make it easier to clean off, almost like a wax.
Plus this way the wheels will look the same (I imagine dust covers not looking so great, almost make the rim look like a hubcap), and you dont have to worry about extra heat or vibrations with the brake pad route.

1. No, they look pretty silly.
2. There should no be.
3. I suppose so, but not enough to make a difference.
I'm with the guy above, different pads are your best option. If you're dealing with severe dust then I'm assuming you're on stock pads which are notorious for heavy dust. Move to a higher performance pad like EBC green stuff or Hawk HPS.
