excellent article on how sway bars work & what problem they solve

Hi all.

I bought a 2005 g35 MT sedan a few weeks ago for daily drive. (only 28k miles on it! nice). I don't drive aggressively or terribly fast (I'm middle aged and thankful to have made it this far) but I do corner mildly aggressively. I've noticed the car leans too much and the back end gets sloppy and won't lay the power down without spinning the rear wheels. I should also mention the car has new 245-45-18 Conti dws on it. (yes 245, not 235).

I've been considering mods to reduce the problem. It seems that stiffer sway bars up front would help a lot. This article (see link) helps explain what sway bars do and how they impact rwd & fwd cars.

Definitely get adjustable aftermarket sways. It is interesting that the 6mt sedans have the same spring rates as the unrevised coupes. I think the engineers tuned the suspension for the coupe then slapped it on the sedan and let the VDC sort it out. I changed to revised 350Z springs, which raises the rear spring rate by 33%. It makes powering out of corners even more difficult. Eventually I'll change to unrevised rear springs. I do plan on stiffening my front bar soon, though 100° weather doesn't make me want to get under the car.

thanks guys. I'm going to order a new set of sways next week. For the first time in more than a decade, I'm interested in cars and performance again. And this from a soon to be 7 year old car (that is new to me). rgds

You will likely need upgraded endlinks as well, though if you are not lowered yet you may be able to get away with the stock endlinks. I have the SPL endlinks, but can't recommend them because they are too noisy.

I've been searching for any decent endlink upgrades but haven't found any for the second Gen.

Whiteline do them for the first gen, any idea where they sell them for the second gen?

I'd be surprised if the end links made for the first gen didn't fit the second gen. I bet it is just an oversight on their website. If you look at Whiteline's rear end links, it does specify that they work on the G37.
